Our owner, Chef Richard Hales a four generation Tampa family since 1954, is back in his hometown of Tampa after 25 years away mastering Asian cuisine, opening award winning restaurants and appearing on the Food Network; beloved by the likes of Guy Fieri. Our seasonal menu features Asian techniques using the fi nest ingredients and availability of locally sourced produces. Chef Hales’ invites you to experience eclectic ambiance, elevated service and his version of Chinese cuisine.

Had an excellent experience today as always at Hale’s Blackbrick. The food and service is amazing, this is by far one of the best restaurants I have ever been to and I will continue to visit again and again. The staff and ownership is always so friendly and accommodating and to me that is an incredibly important part of my restaurant experience. The cuisine also is top notch and enjoy all the new additions to the menu.

This is a wonderful restaurant. My review is quibbling only because our expectations were so very high going in, due to the amazing Open Table reviews we read before deciding to dine here. Service: It is phenomenal. One of the other reviewers mentioned they hope this restaurant gets a Michelin Star. My wife and I have dined at many such restaurants, many 3-star, and this one's service is a two and comes close to three. The hostess, the manager, our waitress and servers were all excellent. Here's our only issue: When we told our waitress that we weren't thrilled with the Fried Yuca, she briskly removed it from the table without a word. She removed it from our bill, which, of course, we appreciated. However, the proper response would be for her to ask if we would like to replace it with another choice, especially when she recommended the dish. We didn't actually want another dish, but it would have been very nice to have been asked. Again, our waitress was wonderful and this is a VERY fine point. We were very happy with her and all of the other service at this restaurant. Food: We had the Prime Ribeye (Hawaiian Prime Angus Beef, Florida Pineapple Stir Fry) and it was wonderful. We also had the Yangzhou (Prosciutto di Parma, Char Siu, Shrimp,Egg Thread Fried Rice). It was all excellent. As mentioned above, we also had the Fried Yuca and it was very bland—a fairly minor blemish—and they took it off of the bill without question. Ambience: The decor is odd/eclectic. It looks a bit like a diner with a black-and-white tile half wall and very eccentric wall decor. Inexplicably, there is a large television screen that was playing what looked to be The Legend of Bruce Lee. Seriously? Really? Get rid of that!!!!!! The music isn't what you might expect either and is much too loud. I say this all to help this restaurant become what it can be. Make these few small changes, and a Michelin Star is well within reach!! For all of those considering this restaurant, go for it!!

Loved the food and staff! We ordered the dumplings tower and Hawaiian rib eye which was so delicious. But the unexpected winner for me was the fried yucca 🔥 I'll definitely go back to taste the rest of the menu

This is our second time here and the food again was fabulous! We started with the eggrolls, then moved to dumplings, and they had a tomahawk ribeye special that was to die for. Honestly, one of the best steaks I have ever had.

The prices are so high we didn't feel comfortable ordering anything interesting. This might be a very good place, but we really couldn't tell given the extreme prices. For example, Lobster Fried Rice was $71. Okay, it's lobster, but fried rice for $71?????
