Higher Ground is a British bistro and bar located in Manchester city centre that focuses on seasonality within the UK using produce sourced from local suppliers and producers.

The restaurant is open Wednesday to Saturday at dinner and at lunchtime on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

At lunch a £40pp seasonal sharing menu is offered alongside an à la carte menu. At dinner, both an à la carte and a seasonal sharing menu at £60pp are available. Both menus are available when sat at the kitchen bar counter.

We often hold space for walk-ins at the kitchen bar counter so pop by and have some plates and a glass of wine!

Reservations of up to twelve guests are accepted via the OpenTable online reservation platform. For parties of 7x guests and over, the seasonal sharing menu is served.

    Went for a celebration meal. Food solid but not as inspiring as expected. Seasoning on some dishes was off. Service friendly enough but inconsistent. Interesting experience but there are better offerings in Mancs for the price.

    Lovely staff but as a ‘foodie’ family group of 6 celebrating the youngest one’s 30th birthday we were overall underwhelmed by the food. It was all OK but we felt did not live up to its reviews. We had the £60 per head menu with food chosen by them. For our taste, seasoning was often off…some salty some surprisingly tasteless eg. the ragu. For a group of 6 the booming generic music was too loud for easy conversation. This is most definitely foremost a bar - which is fine but know this before you go. No ice bucket given ( until I asked for one) for the very expensive wine ( “we aim for a more laid back vibe”) and no cutlery or plate change through our several courses. Glad we’ve been but we won’t be recommending for a restaurant/ bistro experience.

    A perfect evening! Excellent hospitality and delicious food. The most exquisite flavours and zero waste. The highest quality cuisine in a setting where you feel you are going to friends for dinner. By far my favourite restaurant in Manchester. Can't wait to go again!

    Our first time at Higher Ground and recommended by friends. We’re up from Kent for my girlfriend’s birthday and can only say how incredible the whole evening was; the atmosphere, the incredibly friendly and knowledgeable team. Phenomenal food! Everything is so balanced and perfect. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend. Thank you for making a great birthday.

    We had an amazing dinner. We tried the tasting menu and every course was delicious and beautifully plated. The service was excellent and staff super friendly. Really enjoyed our evening!

    Fabulous as always, great food, wine, service and all round experience. Love it here and is always first in mind when eating in town. Was no question when deciding where to celebrate my birthday and it was the perfect choice. Thanks to all at HG :)
