A SOPHISTICATED SOCIAL LOUNGE ON THE VIRGINIA BEACH OCEANFRONT Sip and savor in the distinctively styled Hunt Room, a historic social lounge in Virginia Beach that brings to life the intricate process of a brew house and distillery. Modern style is carefully fused with Southern charm into a polished interpretation of the fabled hearth rooms where men gathered to sip bourbon, warm by the fire and exchange stories of the hunt. Today, The Hunt Room is an intimate tavern tucked away in the heart of The Cavalier, serving simple cuisine inspired by rustic, old world traditions alongside hand-crafted cocktails, beers and wines.

    Service was very good, food was very good but pricey. More casual atmosphere than I expected. Good place to go with your friends.

    Great menu. Vegan & vegetarian options available. Great drink menu. Server was a little slow but was crowded so I assumed she was busy. Food served promptly. Was live music night we were there. Music was very loud for the small space. Would have better something lighter like jazz or indie etc

    We find the food at Cavalier restaurants to be similar to Disney— fine, but not as good as you want, expect or that it could be. Especially disappointed in the sauce for the fried shrimp. Tastes like it was just ketchup and ranch. Not a remoulade or cocktail sauce at ALL and not as flavorful as chick fil a sauce. Every time we eat at a restaurant at the Cavalier they are out of something, unfortunately this time it was something we were really looking forward to— oysters Rockefeller. They could step it up, from a culinary perspective.

    I made a reservation for a special event. We were 10 minutes early and were told the party at our table was finishing their entrees so we would need to wait a few minutes. We did not get to our table until 10 minutes after our reservation. We were seated in a table in the middle of the room when I had specifically asked for another table. We waited a while for our waitress to take our order so we ordered apps and our entrees. One of our apps…the oysters Rockefeller were full of shells. The other apps were good. Our entree was meh. The crab cake was good but the rice pilaf was dried out and cold. The asparagus was tasteless. If you are going for drinks and apps I would recommend this place but not for dinner. It was extremely disappointing.

    The soup special was Jalapeño Popper on the night we went for my husband’s birthday & it was so fabulous we ordered another one immediately upon completing the first - we’ve never shared a menu item so irresistible. Please make this soup a permanent menu item !!! The Lobster Mac & Venison Loin were also cooked to absolute decadent perfection & the service was outstanding. The space has the ambience of a cozy, high end (yet not pretentious) ski resort lodge, and was decorated wonderfully for the Christmas season. We will definitely be returning !!!
