After 18 years of service at Shokudo Japanese Restaurant and Bar on Kapiolani boulevard, we are excited to announce the introduction of Kaimuki Shokudo on 11th avenue. You can expect the same Shokudo essence and hospitality paired with a new exciting concept featuring fresh soba along with other delicious Japanese specialties. Great service and lots of options. A couple items were not available but there’s still something for everyone.

Arrived at 8:35 for my 8:30 reservation after calling them were on our way and party of eight is now a party of six. The first four were seated right away but did seem to wait, around 5 minutes before even being acknowledged. Took another five plus to get our beverage orders in, one beer and three sodas. Then another ten plus to actually get them served at 9:00 by someone else. Would have been ok if they were busy, they weren’t, or if our server was busy, it didn’t appear to be. He even was talking story with a coworker behind the bar as I was trying to get his attention. It didn’t work. Other two joined us at 8:55 and after our drinks were served they were able to put in their order and we all put in our food orders then. I knew he was not that attentive as two 2 tops who’d arrived after us already had their food and were eating. That’s a bad sign. Food was good but way too pricy. $15 for six small prices of karaage chix is ridiculous. $2 for a not even full small bowl of white rice even more so. Last week three of us came for lunch. Enjoyed our time and my $18 beef curry was good and reasonable. Except of our food coming out not even close to the same time, it was nice. I prob won’t came back here again. Tho it’s a nice location, dinner service was very poor and honestly, we were given no attention to service. Menu prices are also way too much for what you get. Poor value.

This was a great choice for dinner. Food was really creative and tasty. Service was attentive and pleasant. It was very noisy, even though our table was away from the main dining area. Still a must try.

Food is good and price is moderate. you have to pay for parking since it is difficult to find street parking.

Perfectly cooked noodles, well seasoned tempura and best honey toast ! The tsukemono was so authentic and delicious !!!

We were very rushed by the server. She must have come by at least a half dozen times asking if we wanted more plates. They came too fast and furious and we couldn’t keep track of what was what. Not a relaxing experience for our table of 7. The food was excellent if you know what you are eating and have the time to savor it. We had been there previously as a couple and really enjoyed ourselves. So we reserved for a family birthday dinner. But I would not recommend this for a mixed group of adults aged mid 30s to mid 70s.

The food was so fresh and tasty. We especially enjoyed their garlic shoyu scallops and ika karrage. The service was excellent. We liked the atmosphere, especially the many hanging lanterns from the ceiling. A must do experience!

We three had a nice enjoyable experience for lunch on a Thursday after Christmas. Made 12:30 reservations via open table which was honored very easily and we were seated right away. Server was very nice and friendly. Atmosphere was pleasent. Good was very good. Only complaint is my beef curry came out around ten minutes before my two companions’ food arrived, tempura & hot soba noodles and duck watercress soba. I was polite and waited and it was long enough my food was no longer real hot. I would come back again but only special occasions. $20 for lunch with no drinks is not in expensive.

Began with the earliest available time of 9:45 pm but was called by the restaurant to let me know they close at 10:00pm and changed the time to 8:45. When arrived and seated at the table was told the kitchen was closing at 9:00 so rushed to place orders. They were out of several items. What we ate was delicious especially the Okinawan sweet potato salad and the scallops. They tried to accommodate the gluten-free needs of one of our diners. I would like to try the restaurant again at an earlier time.
