La Pampa appears to be a popular chain, but based on my experience, I struggle to understand why.
My husband ordered their highest-tier filet mignon—the Chateaubriand cut. Anyone familiar with this cut knows it should come from the very center of the tenderloin, yet what was served was clearly a near-end piece, thin and tapering off at one side. Worse, it was stringy and tough, completely failing to deliver the tenderness expected from a premium filet.
I ordered a simple cheeseburger with no condiments, yet it arrived with toppings I didn’t request. More concerning was the meat itself—it was gray on the outside, lacking any grill marks or caramelization. At a steakhouse that prides itself on its beef, one would expect proper searing or at least some indication of a well-executed cook. The texture and appearance suggested it had been cooked too slowly, leaving it wholly unappetizing.
In fairness to the restaurant, they did the right thing by comping our food, which was appropriate given the situation. Additionally, our waiter was professional and did his best to accommodate us, which is why I’m giving this experience three stars instead of two.
If you're considering dining here, do your research—perhaps other locations or menu items fare better.
