LB Steak is a modern American steakhouse that delivers an elevated dining experience in a comfortably elegant space. The menu features a wide variety of hand-cut, perfectly prepared Prime Angus Steaks and imported, rare, and exclusive A5 Japanese Wagyu selections, all aged and hand cut in our butcher shop. The whiskey and bourbon selection is sure to satisfy the tastes of the most discerning connoisseurs. A comprehensive range of domestic and imported wines complement the menu. While the goal is to showcase the range and potential of global wines and varietals pairing with the LB Steak menu, we still pay homage to tradition and dedicate a large portion of the wine list to standouts among Bordeaux varietals, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon.

The food was just okay. Someone in our party requested their meat well done and emphasized they really meant well, but the steak was bleeding when they cut into it. I ordered medium & my ends were well done and dry, but medium in the center. The sides were ok, but overall, for the price, it’s not worth it.

The steak sandwich is excellent as is the lobster roll. Their bread is amazing! But the best thing we had was the tuna tartare.

Maybe there are some new managers now. This used to be our go-to special occasion restaurant because the service was so exceptional. Sadly, no more. We went in for an anniversary celebration and there was no acknowledgment or congratulations (last time we celebrated our anniversary here, they prepared our table with a card saying happy anniversary, it was the sweetest). They add a 4% living wage surcharge to the bill now, which wasn’t a thing before. It was quiet when we first entered but by the middle of our meal it’d become a little busier. No one came to check on us the entire meal aside from bringing us our food. Def no chance of ordering more drinks and it took us about 5-10min to flag someone down to refill our water. The awesome manager and wait staff that served us multiple times before weren’t there today, not sure if it’s bc we came on a weekday instead of the weekend. Sad. We may give it one last try again on a weekend but are going to start looking for a new special occasion restaurant. Food was good but service too average.

The food quality is average, overpriced, and flavorless. The Pork Belly was just a hunk of pork fat with no life to it. The “Prime” aged ribeye was poorly prepared; probably seared in an aluminum skillet and then finished in a 400 degree oven. The Filet, ordered medium, was overcooked to well and had to be returned. The LB Potato was loaded but had absolutely no flavor. In fact, none of the dishes had any flavor. Worst of all, it’s overpriced. This is not a true steakhouse. If you want a good steak don’t go to LB Steak. You will get a much better steak at Morton’s, Harris’, Del Frisco’s, Maestros, and a few other places that serve true prime beef that’s prepared correctly.

All or most menu items are a la carte. I ordered the ribeye boneless steak and it was good but not great. It came with onions, small tomatoes, and Shishito peppers. It also came with 4 sauces that were tasty but did not add to the flavor of the steak. We had the fries and they were good. My husband had the lobster bisque soup and he said it was excellent. He also ordered the lobster tail and his review was it was good, but not excellent. I had the Cosmo Martini and it was so very delicious, I wish I would have drank my dinner. My husband had a fancy foaming sparkely drink and he liked it. Our Berry Creme Brulee was very tasty and it was a great way to end our dinner. It came with a candle because it was our anniversay, but it was not comped. Our bill with the tip was $240, there was a 4% added in automatically to cover the increased servers wages, but I don't remember exactly how it was worded. It was Super Bowl Sunday so we weren't expecting a lot of people, but the restaurant was pretty full. I would have given the ambiance a higher score if we were seated in a booth, but we were seated by the window in a two seater table, so it was not cozy. LB Steak, San Ramon is very close to our house, so we were hoping for a better experience but the wait staff were most excellent. We were greeted friendly as we came in the front door and were wished Happy Anniversary. We probably won't go back for dinner, but Monday nights the Martini's are $10, so I'll probably go back for that!

Update: My friend and I are still recovering from the Norovirus. In addition, our credir cards were charged multiple times. Went to LB Steak in San Ramon to have dinner with a friend. I arrived earlier than expected and inquired about happy hour and if it was available at the regular dining area or, specifically, for the bar only. The host explained the arrangement to me (bar area and 5 tables, but the tables are essentially communal tables, not ideal for a group of 2), then followed up with, "Just so you know in the future, happy hour is only in the bar area", and she was curt about it. Although I was disappointed in the host's demeanor, we enjoyed having Mike as our server. He was excellent and very helpful. Sadly, my steak arrived overcooked, but he had them replace it straight away.

The food was ok. The steaks were unusually thin for the price you pay. The plates have ridges on them so when you cut the steak it makes a horrible noise. The salmon was very good.

The service was outstanding, the food was great. The only thing I would suggest is the table size be a bit bigger. We felt a bit crowded on the small table.
