Longhorn smokehouse is new restaurant located within Wrest Point.

We’re taking a modern approach to the traditional flavours and ‘low and slow method’ of Southern American BBQ. Sink your teeth into the best grilled, smoked, and baked meats, sourced from the finest local producers. All against the stunning backdrop of the River Derwent.

In other words, it’s your classic American smokehouse, done the Tasmanian way.

Our team live to grill and smoke Tasmania’s best meats to perfection. We have homemade rubs and a curated range of sauces to complement every dish. The food was mediocre, the service was less than mediocre. When it came to payment, they refused to split the bill even though we asked to split it evenly - an easy enough task by any standard. I can’t consciously recommend friends to go there.

We recently visited Langhorn Smokehouse for the first time. When we ordered our food, we told the waitress that we wanted our main course to come after we finished our appetizers. Unfortunately, they brought out our main dish too soon, before we were done with our appetizers. The same thing happened with our dessert. Overall, we were really disappointed with the service.

Excellent food and great service! The team at longhorn went the extra mile to ensure my wife and I enjoyed our anniversary dinner. I highly recommend Longhorn smokehouse!

We were seated at a table for 2 by the window. The staff were very friendly & polite. The food was delicious. My husband had the burger & I had the porterhouse. Both meals were delicious. We then shared the brownie which was YUM!!!!!!!! We will certainly be going back again sometime to celebrate another special occasion.

Reading the reviews, I had high hopes for Longhorn and being a smokehouse i was looking forward to some spicy pork ribs which I haven't had since being in Hobart. We started with oysters which were absolutely delicious. My husband ordered a steak which he said was terrific and I know I should have ordered ½ rack but felt fairly confident that being that the cooking was over an open flame, they should have been outstanding, so I ordered the whole rack for $72. However when it was brought to the table, the 'BBQ Glazed Pork Ribs' had little plate appeal as the sauce was just poured on top of the ribs on the plate, so they were not 'glazed' on the grill at all. I know this saves a lot of cleaning of the grill, but really! The pork was not falling off the bone and quite dry and the flavour was just from the added sauce. Everything else was very good and deserves the reviews but the ribs were truly disappointing.

We had the cornbread, broccolini, green wedges (salad) and brisket. It was an absolutely amazing meal. Would definitely go there again.
