In the old world, in a little village near Bologna, lived the real ‘Mamma Luisa’ who cooked and inspired the next generation of family and friends to recreate in Newport the same authentic taste and atmosphere of northern Italian cuisine.

Our four cozy dining rooms situated a quaint old house make it ideal for romantic dinners & small to medium size parties.

The menu features a variety of authentic Italian dishes like antipasti, bruschetta & salads; typical pasta dishes like Bolognese, Carbonara, Ravioli, and the homemade gnocchi as well as Eggplant Parmigiana and Frutti di Mare.
Selected fresh meat, fish & seafood complete our menu with signature dishes of veal, pork, steak, sole & tuna.
Finish dinner with a cappuccino, espresso or tiramisu.

Excellent dinner. We both had a delicious pasta dishes. We also had the bruschetta appetizer that was excellent! Our waitress Nicole is fantastic. Never skips a beat! Mammas has become one of our favorite Newport restaurants!

A must-dine when we visit Newport and have never been disappointed. Carbonara is excellent, as is the fava bean bruschetta. Wine is so reasonably priced, and they make excellent suggestions! Portion sizes are perfect. If you don’t have room for dessert, share a sorbet! Already can’t wait to go back!

was sat in one area then required to move due to table was for 4 people not 3 people. then placed in a corner seat along a wall like a WEDGE, making the experience POOR. with the help from the waiter he and I were able to slightly move the table in an angle so that we were not wedged in corner allowing us to have a conversation improving the experience. FYI once you sit a guest unless it is a safety concern they should not be moved, we were ready to actually leave since a table for 4 was much to large for a table of 3. But if not for the waiter that was very good at has job and noticed the concern promptly. reason for being upset was that when we finished meal and were leaving the same table tat we were at then had no guests as of yet the other table in the same room had only 3 guests for a table of 4.

We have been visiting Newport for 40 years and this was our first time dining at Mamma Luisa. This restaurant serves authentic Italian food in a charming home converted to a restaurant on Thames Street. Compared to the many restaurants we have dined at over the years Mamma Luisa's is one of the best. The food, service and atmosphere are all excellent. We look forward to our next visit!

What an amazing experience! My husband and I went here for Valentines and it was such a nice and romantic experience. The waiter was well versed and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. I got the bolognese and it was honestly the best and most decadent sauce I’ve ever had. I’m still thinking about it days later. The wine was wonderful and dessert was even better! The atmosphere was adorable. The restaurant is located in an old home. Beautiful vines on the walls and adorable decor. It was comforting. Felt like I was eating in a grandmothers home. This is definitely a must try restaurant if you would like to have a quiet and romantic dinner!
