We decided to celebrate my husband's birthday here after reading positive reviews on Reddit, OpenTable, and Chicago Tribune (early 2025). I made the reservation through OpenTable and indicated it was for a special occasion. We were running a few minutes late and gave a call to the restaurant to see if that was OK - the receptionist was very curt but amenable, and hung up on me. We checked in at the front desk upon arrival and was coldly greeted and then quickly seated. On the way to our table, we overheard the receptionist give a very unfriendly reply to some other patrons asking to sit at the bar. Our server was kind and accommodating, not incredibly warm and didn't give the impression she knew the menu all that well. She brought us everything we needed but at her own pace and didn't check in to see if we wanted another drink until we were more than halfway through our meal. The tables were cleared sporadically and without much haste so we found ourselves squeezing in plates here and there. Overall, service was just very nonchalant and bland. The worst was the food prices - $8 for a side of beans and rice, and $16 for two small empanadas was mind blowing - especially for Pilsen where delicious food for reasonable prices are aplenty. Cocktails were rather weak and unbalanced, especially the spicy mango mojito, which had no mango and no spice. We ordered the fried fish and it was bland and mushy on the inside. The plantain taco was delicious - oddly enough the best thing I ate at a mariscos restaurant - the baja fish was way over breaded and fried. We had really high hopes for a great birthday dinner and was sadly disappointed by the service, food, and $350 price tag for a family of 4 (we had 4 cocktails and no dessert).

This rating is for a brunch experience. We didn't find the cocktail menu very appealing. There were two spirit base, cocktails, and there were two Michelada offerings. How is Michelada supposed to come with an oyster, and the green one is supposed to come with the shrimp. We ordered one Michelada, but did not receive the oyster. We let them know, and they brought one. The chili Relleno was what we could not wait to try. It was on the menu on the website and on the physical menu. However, when we tried to order it, it was taken off the menu. We ended up getting the item characterized as Dominican breakfast, which consists of an egg cheese sauce, and two tuna patties. We did not care for the tuna patties at all. They tasted fishy, and didn't have any other interesting flavor. We tried the asparagus esquites, which was the best item we ordered. It was tasty and creative. We ordered the broiled oysters, which seemed like they were going to be so good, but weren't really broiled. Oyster was raw and a little cold in each, so the flavors did not sing. We also tried the fish tacos. They were good. There was a good fry on the fish. We also ordered the guava doughnut, which we liked. The restaurant decor was pretty. All in all, I feel like I paid a lot of money for a meal that was not satisfying. I would not recommend this restaurant, at least for brunch.

Two couples for brunch on a Saturday. We both shared the ceviche and a fried snapper, as well as fish tacos, empanadas, and a couple desserts. All were quite tasty, and the fried snapper was fabulous! The tortillas and various accompaniments really put it over the top.

Familiar Mexican dishes, from across the country, executed very well! Attentive and friendly staff. Fits well within the rich Mexican dining options in Pilsen.

Delicious, innovative food at reasonable prices given the level of the cuisine. The staff and service is friendly and efficient and it feels like they have great pride in their restaurant. Visited Chicago for the first time for 7 days and it was my favorite spot of the trip.

It was an amazing dinner! The food was excellent and great service as well. The tuna tostada is a must. You really can't go wrong with anything you order. Don't forget about dessert! I would return again for that flan and the rest of dessert alone.

We had an exceptional experience on our first visit. 200% recommend the seafood tower. All the food was great! Service was friendly, competent and efficient. Great atmosphere despite being a little loud for conversation.

We are from NYC and our niece who lives in Chicago recommended Mariscos San Peidreo. Good thing we listened! The food was delicious, service was wonderful. Busy Friday night but food came out in a timely fashion and drinks were wonderful as well. The soft-shell crab tacos were amazing, as well as the Tuna tostada. The trio of tacos were excellent as well. We highly recommend it.
