Welcome to Masa & Agave, a speakeasy-style cantina hidden below stairs at the historic Hotel Ivy in Downtown Minneapolis. On Thursday's, Friday's and Saturday's from 8pm to Close we are first-come, first-served and do not accept reservations during this time.

Worshipped as the Aztec gods of fertility and long life, venerated for their powers of sustenance, corn masa and agave have been central to Mexican culture and cuisine since ancient times.

Using authentic techniques, we prepare corn masa-based starters and Mexico City-style tacos that are bursting with regional flavors, along with dinner classics like Pork Carnitas and Negro Monelo-Braised Beef Short Ribs.

Our collection of 200 agave spirits pays homage to the jimadores and mezcaleros who have labored over their craft for generations. Sip on a copita or two, or gather friends for one of our signature Margaritas - try the Tradicionale, Tamarindo or a Margarita al Gusto mixed with your choice of spirit. Salud!

Good, that’s it. Ceviche was absolutely not ceviche: it as a guacamole- raw tuna combo, but that’s definitely not ceviche. Great margaritas, though, so that compensated. Overall, an ok dinner, not many choices on the menu, but wonderful service and interesting ambiance.

Cool vibe, great Margaritas. Everyone loved the guac, but service was poor, they were understaffed. Even so, I would recommend.

Love the ambience! Very dimly lit via candlelight and moderately loud, so perhaps not the best idea to bring my 7 month old 😂 but my cousin and I had a great time catching up over cocktails and elotes. I’ll def be back with friends or for date night.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants! It has the coolest vibes, the best guac and best enchiladas! Their margaritas are amazing too! Located in the Hotel Ivy, it is a fun place for a staycation and to be able to eat and relax with genuinely delicious food all at the same place!
