Mawn is a noodle house with “no rules,” and the first restaurant for Chef Phila Lorn and his wife Rachel, who bring with them close to 20 years of experience in Philly’s restaurant scene. Phila, pronounced “Pee La,” broken English for Philadelphia, is a first-generation Cambodian-American chef. The first in his family to be born here, his parents and siblings came to Philadelphia as refugees in 1985 after surviving the war in Cambodia.

Mawn, which means “chicken” in Khmer, the Cambodian language, represents more than one thing. To Phila, chicken was at every meal growing up, and to his parents, chicken represented peacetime. During the war and genocide of the Cambodian people, there was mostly only what was found in nature to eat, including rice and salt. If there was chicken, it meant no war. At the end of that dark time, recipes were lost, and culture was wiped out, but through survival, a new authenticity was born.

Thank you for booking our $65 Puck&See experience for parties of 6-7ppl. The menu is designed to be served “omakase “ style. This means, the dishes are chosen by our chef and team to give you the full Mawn experience. All dishes are served family style and explained as they are brought to the table. Specials and oysters are not included but may be added on as well as any other dishes.

Absolutely everything was delicious and it was a wonderful experience! We did the Puck & See tasting menu and loved every single dish. We were served a large variety and it was very difficult to pick our favorite dish of the night. The staff were the sweetest and most attentive. Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve somehow managed to score three reservations here, and each visit has been incredible. The food is beyond amazing – every dish we ordered was insanely delicious. As always, the staff goes above and beyond to make the experience special. Here’s hoping I can snag a 4th visit soon!"

The hype is so beyond real! Every dish was an incredible combination of flavors and textures, and everyone in the restaurant was super friendly and cool. (Side note: the playlist was also awesome!) There wasn't a single thing we tried that we didn't like, but my top dishes were the khao soi (honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten), the whole fish, the papaya salad, and prohok dip. Definitely takes a spot as one of the top restaurants in Philly!

Food and service were excellent. This new addition to the Philadelphia dining scene is not to be missed. Highly recommend.

I had an amazing dinner at Mawn with my boyfriend, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere was inviting, and every dish we tried from the appetizers to dessert was delicious. Our favorite was the Khai Soi. Every dish was bursting with rich, complex flavors. The entire experience was a 10/10, and we’re already excited to come back!

Every dish was so delicious, and the service was very good as well. Definitely recommend going for the Puck & See chef’s tasting so you can enjoy a variety of dishes with your dinner party. Mawn exceeds the hype, I will absolutely be back. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

We tried the Puck and See in which the chef chooses the menu and every single dish was amazing. I especially loved the whole fish, the melon salad, and the jasmine rice pudding.

One of the best restaurants in Philadelphia! Took some friends yesterday who said that the meal was one of their top 5 ever! The chef’s choice menu is a great deal for $65. If you’re lucky enough to score a reservation, you will have an incredible dining experience!! ❤️❤️❤️
