Featuring modern renditions of classic American seafood, Max’s Oyster Bar menu has something for everyone. While seafood is the focal point, there are selections for even the most ardent landlubber. Ethnic influences are apparent throughout a menu filled with new interpretations on traditional fare. The raw bar offers an extensive variety of bi-coastal oysters and shellfish.

In it’s freshman year, 1999, Max’s Oyster Bar was awarded “Best New Restaurant” by Connecticut Magazine. Since then it has won numerous Reader’s Choice Awards, including “Best Seafood Restaurant”. Zagat’s Survey has also given Max’s Oyster Bar an “extraordinary” rating.

We had a lovely experience celebrating a birthday lunch here! The food was delicious, but the service truly stood out—Jayden was warm, friendly, and perfectly timed. She gave great recommendations and made the celebration feel so special with her kindness and attention to detail. A perfect blend of professionalism and genuine hospitality. Omg, just when I didn’t think it could get any better, it did! We ate at Max’s about 2 months ago. Went again on our way home from skiing yesterday and I swear, it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I got the same thing as last time…the baby kale and brussel salad and the trout almondine! Unbelievable! My husband got the Caesar and ordered swordfish grilled with a beurre blanc sauce, grilled asparagus and fingerling potatoes. As plain as that sounds, it was delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce…all I can say is we will keep coming back. I have to find excuses to go there as we live in South Jersey. Also our server Jayden was fantastic! Very attentive! Love, love, love Max’s! I used to go just because of the oyster selection, but now it’s everything else!

Brunch today was fantastic. Our server TORI is fabulous. Music was excellent but unfortunately way too loud for the space. Impossible to talk without shouting to be heard. We love Max Oyster Bar and go regularly. Consistently excellent food and service.

Ordered ribeye medium rare. First the cut was .5 inch thick, and it was cooked medium well and full of marbling with little eatable meat.

Excellent service from our server, who anticipated our needs and made solid recommendations. The scallop dishes were a little overcooked (rubbery), but the stuffed lobster and appetizers were delicious. The drink menu was terrific (I didn’t drink, but my daughter enjoyed them), and creme brûlée was terrific with hot tea on the side. We arrived at 4:30pm and were greeted and seated immediately. The whole experience was amazing because of the attention we received. Thank you.

We have often selected Max’s Oyster Bar, but this was the worst. Our waitress did the bare minimum, and the food was substandard—way worse than before.
