Back after more than a two year closure following the George IV Bridge in late 2021, Merchants has undergone a full refurbishment. Merchants serves Scottish cuisine in one of the most bustling areas of Edinburgh. Braised shin of beef, haggis and seared seabass are some of the dishes on an ever-changing menu, and the restaurant is happy to try and cater for any specific dietary requirements. Situated at 17 Merchant Street, Merchants Restaurant is proud to use fresh, locally sourced produce in its dishes. Historic Edinburgh Castle is a nine-minute journey on foot and Greyfriars Kirkyard a mere two minutes walk.

We had a wonderful New Year's Eve. The meal was really perfect and hearty. It was well decorated and the staff were very friendly and smiling. Thank you very much for this evening.

Just spent a wonderful evening at Merchants. The food was 10/10, staff were excellent and ambience perfect for a pre Christmas meal. This was our first visit to Merchants and it definitely won’t be our last! Thank you for a lovely evening!

We celebrated our anniversary at Merchants, and it was a truly delightful experience. The ambiance was beautiful, and the food was outstanding. Logan provided exceptional service, making our visit even more special. We highly recommend Merchants!

Very friendly & professional service . Excellent food , really impressed , great value . Restaurant very clean & beautifully fitted out . Christmas decorations looked pretty & festive . A real gem that we would return to next time we visit Edinburgh. Thank you so much my family of 6 plus baby had a wonderful time.

We had between the 5 of us almost everything on the menu and it was all superbly presented and tasted delicious

Excellent food and service. Beautiful and very tastefully decorated interior. Again, food quality is on a very high level. Absolutely delicious.
