Milicia is a small and intimate trattoria tucked away in the centre of Ulverstone. The interior has been specifically designed to create warmth and the feeling of being abroad with classic rendered walls, terazzo bench tops and handmade timber tables. Street dining is also available should you chose to soak up the atmosphere of the town.

Milicia presents and small yet delectable menu with everything from slow fermented pizza’s to rustically plated handmade pasta. All made in-house using traditional family recipes giving diners an opportunity to indulge in traditional Italian food with a specific selection of local wines and beers to match. The menu at Milicia is a fantastic example of local produce being used to create an authentic Italian experience using only the finest Tasmanian ingredients.

I visited previously and had a lovely time however the service tonight was less than great and the food wasn’t anything special either - especially given the costs of the meals. We asked for table water twice and didn’t receive any before having to ask for a third time. After our initial drink order the waitress asked if we were ready to place our food order and I said “yes please” to which I don’t think she heard me as she just walked off and didn’t return until our drinks were ready. My young children were very kindly catered to with a plain pepperoni pizza however the sauce was far too spicy for them to eat it so it sat mostly untouched until the adults had some - it would have been handy to know the sauce was hot as we would have opted for something else for them. We had to go up to the bar to ask for more drinks as no one was servicing our table or checking in with us. I had to “flag” a waitress down to clear our plates and order dessert - which was okay but it would have been nice if we had someone check in with our table instead. Just seemed like a shame when the first time I visited was such an outstanding experience. The food was okay but only one of the adults we dined with raved about their dinner which was a shame. I don’t think I’ll come back unfortunately.

Our food was exceptional, service was good and overall we had a pleasant experience dining at Milicia.

Great food and great service! Only let down is the acoustics, when there’s a full house it’s extremely loud otherwise perfect!

Great food, lovely and helpful staff but way too noisy … hard to have a conversation with the other person… add in the music and it was all too much. If you are going for a romantic setting, this isn’t it but delicious food made up for it

Pizza & pasta were delicious! Tiramisu & brownie dessert amazing!! Will definitely be back, highly recommend

Magnificent food, service was fantastic. The limoncello was next level. What a gem of a restaurant. Ulverstone and surrounds need to support this business. .

Managed to grab a last minute table, sat down in a cute little restaurant with a nice bar/counter. Table/cutlery was clean, limited but good wine and beer selection. I had Canneloni, which was delicious, arrived in a timely manner via attentive but not too over the top wait staff. My wife had seafood pasta, and loved it. This restaurant is a little gem, well worth the visit. We will be back!
