Our décor is warm and modern. The tradition has always been dark wood, leathers and a muted palette for a steakhouse. We broke the mould and decided to add hand-selected music that reflects us! We’re more like Jay Z and less like Sinatra.

We only serve ranch specific Alberta Beef. That means we don’t serve beef from anywhere else on the planet. We know our farmers and ranchers personally and respect the hard work they put in to produce our beef.

We are one of just a handful of steakhouses in Canada that serves, Grass-fed, Grain-fed, Wet-aged, Dry-aged and Wagyu beef 365 days a year. Our beef is always fresh never frozen.

We use a 1800 degree Infrared Grill to cook your steaks. The high heat creates a flavourful crust on the outside of the steak and leaves a juicy centre.

We took our daughter and her boyfriend here for her birthday and took advantage of the "date Night" promo. We were seated immediately on arrival and our server Anna who was excellent the whole evening came over right away & took drink orders including wine and explained the choices for Date Night. Drinks arrived quickly along with the wine. Anna returned a couple of time to see if we had any questions. After ordering the appetizers and salad came out within about 10 min. The mains came out within about 20 min. All mains & side dishes were piping hot. My steak (striploin) which I ordered medium rare was very rare (blue rare) as was the boyfriend's. He was okay with his but I sent mine back to be cooked more. Within about 3 min the manager returned with my properly cooked steak and he apologized profusely. So far a wonderful experience all around. Unfortunately I cant give the food 5 stars as the 3 striploins were all tough and chewy. We were very surprised as we have dined here at least 4 times before. My daughter ordered the flatiron steak and hers was great. Really disappointed in the steaks as other than that it was a 5 star dining experience. Our server Anna was one of the best I have experienced at any restaurant. Gold star to her! The manager (didnt get his name) was also very good- checked back with us after the re-cook of my steak and asked us again how our dinner was as we were leaving. Customer service here is excellent. Despite the steak quality this time, we will definitely return. Im hoping this was a one-off hiccup.

We had a great evening due the diligence of the Manager, attentive service by the wait staff and delicious food especially the Brussels sprouts.

The service started off a bit rocky but the server found his groove and the rest of the evening went smoothly. For a seafood restaurant, I am a bit disappointed with the lack of choices available. We have noticed over time that the menu options are leaning more to the spicy side and less to the pure side. I also found it a bit odd that there are very limited vegetable options on the side dishes. However, Modern has amazing chefs/cooks, and they once again were able to accomodate my dietary restrictions by creating something I could eat. Thank you for that.

Although the music didn't fit the vibe and was initially too loud to converse over, Modern Steak was able to accommodate my request to lower the music and then provided a lovely experience. Our server (I regret not catching her name) was fantastic! She provided great knowledge, was not overbearing, was friendly and prompt. Would love to be served by her again. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of the salt tasting, as well as the confit garlic and side butters which all created unique bites of steak each time and kept me excited for more. Steaks were cooked to perfection, and you MUST try the to-die-for brussel sprouts. Unreal! Would certainly return!
