One of your favorite special dining experiences in Boston for special occasions. Food is always amazing and they do an awesome job accommodating food allergies. The service was slow to get started and we waited too long for things to kick off but once things started the evening was perfect.

Last minute decision during a quick visit to Boston (after doing a little research) that was an all around superb experience. Lovely space. Service was spot on. Dishes were very inventive and married unexpected flavors into a fantastic meal. The wine pairing was well worth it!

We had 7 courses. We decided to splurge on wine pairing. We had a great time! Our favorite dishes were the octopus and the tuna but the menu changes frequently.

Food and wine pairing were wonderful! If there could be any complaint it was there was so much food!!!! However, took it home and had it the next day! Still was great!

We had a nice time at Mooncusser, enjoying all of the items on the menu that went in place at the end of January. Jonah crab was good, tuna crudo was different in a good way, papusa was unusual; celery root soup was the big winner for one of us, octopus was the winner for the other; pork shoulder gumbo super flavorful, and dorade was tasty but overwhelmed by a mango mustard; riccota mousse was excellent; and deserts were servicable. Server was knowledgeable and clearly knew their stuff. That said, nothing stood out as excellent - it was all good to very good, but nothing overwhelming. The kitchen turns the menu over every six weeks, and I’m not entirely sure that’s always for the better - based on some of the reviews we’ve seen and led us to go. Diners are a bit at the mercy of the menu at that specific time, so focus on the latest ones.

I think the use of “Heat” dominated my food and made it not sufficient to eat. For example, The Jonah Crab dish was so hot it almost resembled a buffalo dip of some kind. … And the heat in the dish was so hot it lingered in my mouth while trying to enjoy the Tuna which my wife enjoyed but I couldn’t because she gave me her crab.. Spice seems to be hidden everywhere even in a Colada rum drink that should be coconut dominated not curry. The wine tasting was exceptional. No coaching to make things match your taste preference. The Celery soup and desert was a delight… But three starters heavy on spice made me think I made a bad choice for my wife’s birthday.
