Our menu represents Chef Michael's Blackie’s best food memories, which span over his 35 plus international career Chef worked in Asia, Latin America and is an expat from the UK.
His food style can best be described as a balance between Canadian roots with a strong influence in both Asian, Latin and European cuisines.
We are currently open for Dinner weekly 7 days week from 5 to 9 pm. We are known for our blind tasting menu that features 8 dishes shared between minimum of 2 people. We are also open for Sunday Brunch from 10am to 1 pm and offer a sharing 5 course - 10 dish brunch tasting menu.
NeXT opened in 2009 and is consistently in the top drawer of established restaurants in the Ottawa / Gatineau region. NeXT has been awarded many accolades over these past 11 years.

An absolutely epic experience. Highly recommend! The dishes were so thoughtfully curated, and the flavor was a solid 11/10 for literally every dish we tried. I can't remember the last time I felt excitement with the bursting flavors during a dining experience like this. There were aspects of each dishe that brought in surprises with both flavor & textures, and in a way this brought up a childlike excitement within me. I wasn't sure what to expect with the atmosphere, but was so pleasantly surprised when we went in and it felt warm and inviting. An upscale yet relaxed vibe. Our server had great knowledge of the dishes and spoke to them in a way that really got us excited to dig in. We will absolutely be going back, and are excited to try more of the dishes.

We shared the blind sharing menu. The cryo watermelon+crispy prosciutto salad was light and tasty. The pork belly in the Char Sui Crispy Pork Belly Bao Buns was superbe. The cauliflower was cooked until tender with a sweet oriental sauce in the Kapow Cauliflower to create an interesting dish. The Linguini+Guanciale Carbonara was tasty. The Chicken Schnitzel was slightly overcooked and came with a gnocchi and cream sauce. I guess I am a traditionalist in that I prefer chicken schnitzel simply with a squirt of lemon juice. The Dark & Stormy Beef Short Rib was melt in your mouth tasty. The Ginger Crème Brule and Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse were both very good. The 3 flights of wine complimented the meal well. The first, a Spanish viognier was particularly interesting and matched the salad perfectly. A selection of non-alcoholic wines would have been appreciated by one of our party. Something for Next to aspire to in the future. Overall this was an exceptional dining experience.

It was different from all the other restaurants I have been . The matcha ice cream was the best dessert I tried ever.

EXCEPTIONAL service. We had two appetizers: The oysters were delicious, though quite small, and the deep fried curds were good but in a restaurant like this, we expected sensational. The mains were very, very good and we enjoyed them immensely, eating every bite. For desert, we had the peach cobbler. The homemade vanilla ice cream was incredible, the wine was fabulous. Overall, a great experience for both of us. Personally, I wish for wood floors in this restaurant to dull the noise and add warmth to the space. We are going again for their Valentine’s Day event.

We shared the blind tasting menu as well as the wine flights. It made for a wonderful evening as the food and drink just kept coming. The highlight for me was the short ribs served with a rich Italian wine. These were perhaps the best ribs I have ever eaten. We also enjoyed the pork buns with watermelon salad, the Thai curried prawns, etc. Each new wave presented a taste sensation. The surprise of the night was the first white wine served. Spanish, by a young vintener, the wine was a blend of surprising crispness and clarity. It set the tone and provided the energy for the meal. I wish it was available in the LCBO. While the meal seemed pricey, it provided value for money, and my impression is that prices have not increased as much at NeXT as at many other premium restaurants.

Was a first time there and the food was excellent. I have food intolerance (gluten) and they were SUPER accommodating! Will definitely go again soon!

For appetizers we ordered their Golden fries and Kapow Cauliflower, fries were too salty and for cauliflower they gave 4 pieces ($18), not worth the price. Main course was decent, not an extraordinary meal. Overall fair experience, just one time thing.
