    The food was delicious. Like really delicious. The service just let everything down. Between the waiter sitting down at a table with their backs to everyone, refusing entry to a friend who wanted to join us at our spacious table, not topping up our wine, and not explaining the menu nor specials - this one is a miss.

    Norma is a charming spot! With French and Italian vibes. Perfect for any night. I highly recommend checking it out with the traditional dishes it won’t disappoint.

    Starters and mains were good but overall portions were extremely small. Main Fish dish which was flounder was ok just buttered with capers no real extra punch that you’d find at a restaurant. Eye fillet sold out. Gnocchi ok. Best were the starters but they were very small portions. I had to ask for an extra 2 crackers as we were 6. Bread was $12.00 for 4 pieces with butter. Octopus was very tasty so was the tuna. Food waitress was good drinks took ages to arrive. We had to remind them that we ordered cocktails. Drink Waitress all confused with our wine order. We ordered a bottle of wine but only received a glass never saw the bottle nor the waitress. Had to ask what happened to our bottle so she ended up giving us half a bottle. Profiteroles were terrible. Either stale or frozen. Very expensive for what you get.

    I've been to Norma for a date night last week and we absolutely loved it ! We took the "feed me" menu, and it's been so nice to try a bit of everything. I am obsessed with the tuna and the duck, and being picky on this last one, I have to say it's the best I've eat in Melbourne so far . The waitress was lovely and attentive to details. The ambiance was cosy and intimate. We've get the vibe of a small familial restaurant without fuss but great quality of food. We will be back for sure . A northern side address to add to your to do list !

    the menu for food and drinks lacked enough options. I would not say it was an outstanding experience in the sense that there wasn’t anything that was ordered that I can rave about however the service and atmosphere was nice and I’d probably come back again if I was looking for a casual week day spot.

    We loved every single dish, the flavours were incredible. The service was very attentive but also relaxed which suited the venue perfectly. Best meal I’ve had out in a while and my friends agreed. Will definitely be back

    Food was great, we didn't get much steak for how much we payed but otherwise the rest of the food was great. They gave a lot of chips with the steak so it made up for it a little bit. But the service was quite poor, it seemed like the waiters were ignoring us, we raised our hand and asked for help 3 times but still got ignored till the 4th time. They also filled other diners their water but didn't fill up ours. Very disappointed with their service but otherwise good food.

    Gorgeous restaurant in Fitzroy. It’s a bustling little place with room upstairs. The staff are so hospitable, the ambience is quaint in the best way and the food is outstanding. It filled up quickly when we were there early on a Thursday. So much to love — the servings are generous. We were offered a taste of the wine we were asking about, and so was another table. Little things like this make you feel the staff really care and want to look after you. The octopus for an entree is cooked to perfection and the sauces are to die for. You feel like you’re being welcomed into a good friend’s home. We LOVE Norma. You will too. Thank you to the wonderful staff for a truly special experience, and to those in the kitchen. We will be back x

    Norma is a hidden gem that truly feels like a slice of home for anyone who loves French cuisine! From the moment you step in, the charming decor transports you straight to the sun-soaked streets of Nice. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff is wonderfully attentive, making you feel right at home. The food is simply outstanding. Every dish we tried was delicious, and it was hard to pick a favorite because everything was that good. However, the tuna tartare, burrata, duck, and baked gnocchi were absolute standouts. The flavors were so well-balanced and beautifully presented. We couldn't resist dessert either — somehow we managed to make room, and it was totally worth it! On top of the fantastic food, the pricing at Norma is incredibly reasonable, especially for the quality you’re getting. It's rare to find this level of cuisine at such fair prices in Melbourne. Norma is a place I'll definitely return to — a true taste of France that’s both authentic and affordable!
