    After being a fan for a long time, was very disappointed with my experience here. The service was terrible, they did not accept credit cards and failed to inform us until we asked for the bill, the food was mediocre, and the owner/chef was very rude to my mother. Will never go back and recommend that all stay away. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

    Poorly managed and no service. Food was subpar and cold. Demanding cash payment at the end citing machine broken.

    Four of us had dinner early for a change so it was a surprise to see an empty restaurant at 6pm on a Friday night but what a treat for us that it wasn't as busy as usual. It did fill up later on but by then we weren't paying attention as we were enjoying ourselves so much. The food was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed seeing a varied menu without too many choices. The wine was perfect with what we were eating with limoncello given to us at the end that was amazing! The chef was very entertaining and recommended different foods and wines along with service from his son and one other which was perfect. We weren't going to have dessert but.... we had 3 out of 4 of them (there were 4 of us after all!!) and every one of them was to die for! We were so impressed and sad too that we hadn't been before now. I believe he has been there for about 8 years but..... we ARE definitely going back!

    We left once the wine came they only had one Chardonnay and it had cork in it. They sat us next to four old ladies when there were only six people in the restaurant. Once I tasted the wine and saw there was nothing on the menu like the pictures I had seen we left and picked somewhere else. If this restaurant going to last and only have one Chardonnay they better make sure it at least drinkable.

    Valentino is the owner and head chef. He named the restaurant after his father, so it is truly a labor of love and one that he takes very seriously. Valentino and his sous chef, Richard, create the most delicious food that I have had in the Bay Area and perhaps in the U.S. The food is authentic Italian that charms the palate with every bite. An example of the dedication to tradition is shown in the fact that Valentino makes his own bread and cures his own meats at the restaurant. For wine, Valentino recommended the 2010 Valpolicella Superior Ripasso Bosan and it was divine. The wine complimented the food perfectly and provided a nice balance with our choices. We started with the Burrata Con Speck, which came with a fist size of burrata and their homemade prosciutto in a balsamic vinegar sauce. The burrata melted in my mouth and it was a perfect combination with the saltiness of the prosciutto and the sweetness of the sauce. It was simply heavenly.Then we sampled the grilled octopus with arugula and olives. The octopus tentacles were quite large and cooked perfectly. I have tried octopus many times and this is only the second time I have had it prepared correctly. There was no chewiness and the flavor seeped into it well. For the entrée, we shared the spicy risotto with octopus. We could not get enough of the octopus since it was prepared flawlessly. The red sauce was spicy but not overpowering to the other ingredients. It was a subtle but noticeable touch. Finally, we finished with a dessert similar to a crème brulee. It was served with raspberry sauce and chocolate shavings. Truly heavenly. As a thank you for dining with them on our anniversary, Valentino gave us two glasses of his Limoncello. The drink was equalized so that the sugar offset the bite of the lemon. It was simply delicious. Valentino runs his business in honor of his father and it shows. I recommend Ottavio to anyone who is interested in authentic, delectable Italian cuisine.

    Regular diner at Ottavio. Food is excellent with great favors and touch. Menu is on the small side, but that is a good thing as all on the menu are outstanding. Valentino is a true gentleman and chef. Last time in we had their arugula salad (very good), in-house cured meat tray (outstanding), Lamb Promegranate (wonderful) and the best Gnocchi around. Small family owned establishment that we enjoy supporting!
