A refreshing new breed of wine bar, Peacock is a relaxed and boisterous hideaway overlooking the city’s picturesque waterfront in the heart of Halifax’s bustling Queen’s Marque district. Serving an ever-evolving list of labels including small-production and hard-to-find bottles as well as an extensive by-the-glass selection, its menu features a thoughtfully curated list of sharing plates and handmade pastas lightly anchored in local seafood and seasonal vegetables.

    Join us at Peacock for an unforgettable evening as the two finalists from this year’s Top Chef Canada – Chef Moira Murray and Chef Chanthy Yen – unite for a one-weekend-only collaboration dinner. These two visionaries are coming together to present a 4-course menu that celebrates their shared passions. Chef Chanthy Yen will be travelling from his home in British Columbia to meet Chef Moira Murray here on the East Coast, blending their distinct styles and inspirations for a menu that spans coast to coast. An optional wine pairing will be available to complement each course for an added charge. Doors will open by 6:45 pm with dinner beginning at 7 pm.

    Engaging front-of-house staff who make you feel comfortable without being too familiar (a difficult balance!) The food was, of course, very tasty. We had the chef’s menu and it was a fascinating tour of flavours. All in all a very enjoyable dinner

    Overall we had a great time and would come back. The food was innovative, well paired and well executed. Would have loved a formal wine pairing option. The initial service was too lengthy; took over 20 mins to get our first drink. The server seemed quite busy and had many jobs including hostess. After our first drink arrived and we placed the order, food came out quickly and we didn’t have any more delays. The bathrooms could use some attention during service, and the fixtures were flimsy (garbage could be emptied, toilet paper holder fell off the wall). Overall design and atmosphere was good; not too noisy, although I don’t remember any music in particular. Chairs were comfortable, tables are fairly tight together but overall ambiance was nice. What we came for was good food and we got that. Moira has skill! Thank you we will return.

    Loved our fondue! It was so filling! Cocktails were also delicious, even the non alcoholic ones!

    Our server was knowledgeable and very pleasant. We wanted to share and try different dishes. We order three of the dishes recommended by our server: warm mushroom salad, beef tartare and halibut cheeks and cauliflower. I would order all three again and I loved the contrast of flavours. The beef tartare was excellent it was ideal to share as I would have found it too much to eat on its own. Overall great experience.

    It was lovely and our meal was well paced with great wine suggestions. One fussy point that may not be an issue in other seasons…It is a bit chilly when the door opens and the cold air enters during winter! Lovely spot.

    The food was very tasty and delicately placed on our plates. Although for the exuberant cost, I'm not sure it was that good, the atmosphere was extremely loud and my chair was very uncomfortable for more than 1 hour of sitting. We had wine, along with wine tasting with our dinner, The cost was surprisingly high at the end.. $$$$ I think you can get a better experience for less. Cheers

    We chose the NYE 7 course tasting menu. We also added the wine pairing, which was an additional $65. The cocktail and wine we ordered first were very good. After that our experience was less than stellar. Our wine for the first two courses was placed during our second course without even a word from our server which wine it was. The same for the second wine, we had to ask what wine we were given. The first 5 courses were good, but my main course was, literally inedible. The veal was so tough I could barely cut it and could not chew it. Our server replaced it with the haddock which was decent but lacked overall flavour. As the main course, both dishes were far from good. I understand that NYE can be very busy, but we left feeling mostly disappointed with our meal. The total for the meal was over $400, over $500 with tip. We are giving 3 stars because our servers (several ppl worked the floor) did start informing us what they was placing on the table and there were a few hits throughout the menu. Specifically the lobster roll amuse bouche, the sunchoke course. This restaurant has very good ratings, but our experience, unfortunately, did not live up to our expectations.

    An amazing experience from start to finish. The food was delicious and the wine pairing was a perfect complement. Service was fantastic!
