Pure South Dining is founded on philosophy of Ethical, Sustainable and Provenance driven produce, championing Tasmanian farmers, fishermen and small producers. The best in season produce is flown from the islands of King, Flinders & Tasmanian directly to our Southbank kitchen.

Pure South Dining offers our guests two dining options to suite any occasion.

The ground floor Pure South Kitchen is our casual riverside bistro offering classics from morning till late. Enjoy our Tassie produce without the fuss, while you look out to the Southbank promenade, sipping cocktails with friends.

Ascend the stairs to the Pure South Dining Room, for a modern fine dining experience, with stunning views of the Yarra River & Melbourne's skyline. Dine a la carte, or embark on a culinary journey with our six-course tasting menu. Our in house sommelier is on hand to guide you through our extensive wine list, with over 400 bottles highlighting Tassie Chardonnay & Pinot Noir.

Wanting a feel for Australian cuisine, we selected the sampler on the menu. Six courses representing plenty of food and a wide variety of items came our way. All tasted fantastic. The grilled wallaby, lamb, and smoked trout were especially satisfying. The price was a little steep but we had a great dining experience.

A fantastic showcase of produce grown and harvested from Tasmania and nearby islands. great food, lovely location looking over the Yarra River in Melbourne, wonderful service from the staff, hard to beat!!

My two girlfriends and I had a great catch up at Pure South for lunch, The staff were attentive and social with a few laughs to be had. Food (seafood marinara) was fresh and the bisque light (not heavy with cream). Wine showcased Aussie wines which are always a favourite. I've eaten there numerous times with family and friends over the years and it's always been a great experience.

Enjoyed the chef's selection of food and wine on a balmy Melbourne evening. The only complaint would be the noise from the buskers nearby.

We had drinks here for my husband’s birthday. The service was great and all staff were attentive. We both ordered the scotch fillet steak which was very tender. The only thing that I could complain about was that the salad needed a bit more oomph. The watermelon sour cocktail was delicious 🍸

Delightful meal as one expects of this establishment, and a riverside window table for the evening and the fireworks was the icing on the cake! So glad we opted for cheese after our mains - the shared dessert provided for my birthday , a panacotta with a fresh berry coulis - topped the meal off beautifully. Thank you for making my otherwise quiet celebration of a milestone birthday a memorable one.

We went NYE early sitting and the staff were able to kindly accommodate a couple of friends who had not booked which required a 4 seater table which luckily was close to the window 👏 Nigel was our waiter and he was of good humour, kind and helpful. The food was soooo tasty with wonderful flavour combinations albeit small servings but it enabled us to fit in 3 courses👍
