Pure South Dining is founded on philosophy of Ethical, Sustainable and Provenance driven produce, championing Tasmanian farmers, fishermen and small producers. The best in season produce is flown from the islands of King, Flinders & Tasmanian directly to our Southbank kitchen.

Pure South Dining offers our guests two dining options to suite any occasion.

The ground floor Pure South Kitchen is our casual riverside bistro offering classics from morning till late. Enjoy our Tassie produce without the fuss, while you look out to the Southbank promenade, sipping cocktails with friends.

Ascend the stairs to the Pure South Dining Room, for a modern fine dining experience, with stunning views of the Yarra River & Melbourne's skyline. Dine a la carte, or embark on a culinary journey with our six-course tasting menu. Our in house sommelier is on hand to guide you through our extensive wine list, with over 400 bottles highlighting Tassie Chardonnay & Pinot Noir.

The maitre d was loud and obnoxious. The wait staff were completely disorganised, confused and in experienced. The mains arrived before the starters and the mains were taken away and placed into an oven to dry up only to be re-served after we finished the starter. Very poor. My main meal fish had a sizable bone that ended up in my mouth. The bill was reduced with these considerations but I wont be booking Pure South again.

Dinner pre theatre and the Blue Eye and Broccolini were excellent. Great location looking out on the Yarra.

The food here was pedestrian. Not bad but not great. The Snapper I ended up with was not the Coral Trout as advertised on the daily specials, and it was not the freshest I have ever had. Other people said their Blue Eye was excellent. Chips, salad and broccolini were good and large serves. We were down the back of the restaurant near the kitchen which was dark. However, our position meant we appeared to be forgotten by the wait staff. We would have ordered another bottle from the excellent list if someone was around to take our order. After we had been sitting for 20 minutes, we walked up to the counter to pay the bill. We were told the bill would be bought to the table. No options to split bill unless it is in even amounts, not a problem for us but maybe for some.

Hi Peter, Thanks for sharing your feedback on your experience with Pure South Kitchen on Friday. We're sorry to read about the mix up with the Coral Perch. Our fresh fish being flown is from Devonport the same day it is caught, this does mean we don't always get as much as we would like. We've followed up with the service team as to why this was not communicated table side when you ordered, as well as your comments regarding service. The team look forward to being able to welcome you back to Pure South in the near future.

Cannot recommend the 6 course degustation enough, absolutely fantastic. Get the pairing as well, the team have delivered the perfect accompaniment. I say this and I'm not a gin drinker, which came with the first course yet suited perfectly. Rated the ambiance lower because the patronage was minimal, this is not the restaurants fault and I urge Melbournians to get out to Pure South Dining asap and enjoy the delights of Tasmania. Can't wait to go back.
