Red Dog Saloon is an Austin, TX Barbecue restaurant, serving 18-hour roast ribs, brisket, aged chuck steak burgers and much more, all best enjoyed with tasty cocktails or milkshakes.
Barbecue grew up in the South of the USA where cooks learned to slow roast cuts of meat over fire pits to make them tender. Exposure to the smoke of the smoldering wood added a distinctive smoky and juicy taste to the meat. Our award-winning smokers have been imported from the USA and are built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavor, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 18 hours.

90 pound for the sharer, that comes with 2 thin very dry slices of brisket, 2 thin slices of undercooked pork belly, 6 shop bought chicken wings, a scoope of barely warm “pulled pork” dish is way over priced for the amount and quality, won’t be returning

Very busy. Had to wait in the middle of the restaurant awkwardly for a table even with a booking, then had to wait over 10 minutes for someone to take a drinks over. We then waited around 25 minutes for water which came out 2 seconds before our food. We then had to wait serval more minutes for cutlery as we didn’t have any when our food came. The food itself was minimal and the pork ribs served had next to no meet on and majority of the rib was purely grizzle which was inedible. Essentially paying £20 for a bit of toast.

It was very busy when we arrived and I feared we would nog get served for a long time. As it turned out it was fine. Our server was great. The food was good but this ain’t Texas.

The waiter did not ask us about allergies. We proceeded to order and the the order came with Texas bread. Luckily my girlfriend did not eat this as it is basically eggy bread and she is allergic to egg!! The chicken tenders were pink inside also.

The food was amazing and is on the pricey side but it is to be expected. The service today was very poor compared to normal as we waited about 40 minutes for our drinks. People coming into the the restaurant after us were getting served drinks before us.

This was our first time visiting Red Dog Saloon and I won't be returning! Ordered grilled chicken for £16.50 which comes with coleslaw and pickles. Unfortunately I'm unable to eat either of those things so my "dinner" arrived as 3 mini chicken fillets (of which I can buy a whole pack of for £3.75!!) and literally NOTHING else! I am aware that I asked for the accompanying items to be left off due to allergies, but I thought they would have been substituted with something more suitable to my needs. How any self respecting chef can send out 3 small bits of chicken (which were hard on the outside and actually made my mouth hurt from eating!) on a plate as a "meal" is actually beyond me! And expect me to pay full price for is insulting!!! I wouldn't normally post so publicly about issues but I have emailed the restaurant directly and had no response.. simply unacceptable Red Dog!

Great food, great place squeezed into a booth for 4 ( there was 6 of us) service wasn’t bad but was very “meh” come the food not the rest 💪🏻

I have also shared this review on Google. I had been recommended this restaurant by a friend who spoke most highly of the food on offer! I looked at your social media, and the video of your Beef Rib literally sliding off the bone had me salivating in anticipation. Unfortunately, our experience at Red Dog Saloon was poor, to put it mildly. The two courses I had were the Fried Oysters and the Long Horn Beef Rib. The oysters were virtually inedible, they are the saltiest thing I’ve ever tasted - and to be clear, I like oysters, I’ve enjoyed them on many occasions at other establishments. The saltiness of them was not helped by the fact that for some reason they were served on a literal bed of salt. Despite my disappointing starter, I was still looking forward to my tender Beef Rib… unfortunately whoever cooked the one for the social media page didn’t seem to be working this evening. My beef rib required hacking off the bone - not an easy task with a blunt table knife and then proved to be thick as old boots. The staff didn’t ask how our food was during our meal, and didn’t seem bothered that they had taken most of a hacked away at Beef Rib from me when clearing our table. I cannot speak for each of the fellow patrons who visited with me, but a couple of them confided in me that their experience had certainly not been what they had expected either, including a number of them having to ask for new plates as they had been given obviously dirty ones. The other reviews I have seen, and the testimony of others who have visited before make me sure that tonight was an anomaly, however, it was my honest experience. Unappatising food, tough meat, dirty toilets and inattentive staff lead me to leaving this review. To be fair, the staff did happily bring out the birthday cake and candles that we provided them with at the start of our meal and this made for a nice moment. And, my wife enjoyed her chicken tenders very much.
