Set in the beautiful village of Grantchester, our picture perfect, thatch roofed pub is a 2 minute walk from The Grantchester Meadows and a lovely 40 minute stroll along The Cam from Cambridge.

The food was very nice, I had the chicken kyiv on the new menu and it was highly enjoyable, I recommend!!

From the first friendly greeting as we entered to the friendly smile as we left, it was a very, very lovely experience. We’re lucky enough to be there when they had just brought in their new menu which as people who enjoy good food I can only say how wonderful that was. We will most definitely be returning to try some more of the new menu.

A Fantastic Lunch Experience! I had an absolutely wonderful lunch at The Red Lion Grantchester! From start to finish, everything was top-notch. The food was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Each dish was prepared with great attention to detail, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The drinks were equally impressive—well-crafted, refreshing, and the perfect complement to the meal. Whether you’re looking for a classic cocktail, a great selection of wines, or a refreshing non-alcoholic option, they have something for everyone. Beyond the food and drinks, the service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing and enjoyable lunch. I highly recommend The Red Lion Grantchester and can’t wait to return!

I have eaten at The Red Lion a few times; it’s far from home but it’s a good meet point with friends who live far away. The pub itself is lovely, in a quaint village and really nice surroundings. Bonus that it has a slide / climbing frame in the garden for the kids. Today wasn’t a great day. The service was poor, the sternness of the lady taking our order, very unfriendly. Then they completely forgot one of our meals, didn’t even get an apology, it then arrived as everyone else was finishing. They still kept it on the bill, along with service! Of course asked for it to be taken off but again no apology for any of it. The roast itself was ok, nothing to write home about. I am not sure if I will return but if you are looking for a nice village pub with ok food then it’s fine

Spacious and comfortable pub/restaurant with good selection of snacks and meals and reasonable prices. Good car park. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Lovely friendly atmosphere, very welcoming for our 4 legged fur baby. Excellent service and lovely food, I deducted 1 star because the chicken added to my salad was still on the bone and wasn’t very well seasoned. I think Cajun or jerk chicken option would elevate the dish. This is our 3 visit and it doesn’t disappoint will definitely be back again.
