Dinner arrived before we finished eating our salad. The prime rib (ordered medium rare) was medium to medium well and very dry. We had ordered a loaded baked potato and were served a twice baked one instead.\n\nDidn’t even get to order a glass of wine with dinner as our drinks were just getting finished and no servers appeared from which we could order.\n\nWe were in and out of Tracton’s in less than fifty minutes. He is kind, friendly and happy to have you as a guest.\n\nOn to the food: Before you even order you immediately notice that this is more like an old fashioned New York Steakhouse, with a piano bar and standards being crooned. It is very relaxing and 'old school'. Think Frank Sinatra with a few Billy Joel hits thrown in.\n\nThis is a high quality comfort food place. So the potatoes are au gratin. So is the Mac N Cheese. They talk about their many options for steak dinners. We start with their French Onion Soup. They split it for us. My suggestion? Do not split it. Get one for yourself. The cheese dripping over the edge is done right and you want the most you can get!\n\nWe tried their Chicken Pot Pie and Baby Back Ribs. This is the place to go for these main dishes. I ordered a half rack and it was more than satisfying. As you may have heard, and see here, it's pricey. With soup, two mains, a side of Mac N Cheese, tax and tip it was just under $200.00. \n\nWhat I also know about this place is: During track season it's jammed. People with lots of money and a piano bar to sing at? A full-fledged steakhouse of this sort shouldn’t have laminated plastic menus. It’s tacky and goes against the old-time feel of the place. We had a fabulous Anniversary lunch at Red Tracton's this week. Everything was excellent from the cocktails, Prime Rib and especially the service from the talented and nice, Adrienne! Red Tracton's takes you back to a time where food and service were paramount...we enjoyed it!

Big faux pas number one - my wife ordered a simple iced tea and there was some sort of slime on the straw and into the glass. No idea what this might have been.
Big faux pas number two - no soap in the ladies’ room, just two empty dispensers and some hand sanitizer.
But the restaurant also missed on the smaller notes. A full-fledged steakhouse of this sort shouldn’t have laminated plastic menus. It’s tacky and goes against the old-time feel of the place. And the crème brûlée had the consistency of cottage cheese and was on the colder side of lukewarm.
We now can say we’ve been here, but we won’t be returning.

There were only a few tables occupied and probably only two waitstaff on duty, and we spent a long time alone. Service could have been a lot better.
I chalked the poor service up to the fact that the other tables were large parties, but we were seated between two of them and they were LOUD. We probably should have asked to move.
Our server promised us bread and said more than once it was on its way. I guess she decided that we really didn’t want any because none ever arrived.
Red Tracton’s used to be a favorite place for us to go on holidays and special occasions, but our last few visits there have been very disappointing. It’s a shame.
