   We arrived just fine and we got a good table by the window. Everything was starting well until we ordered. We ordered a mojito with mezcal but got some lime mixture with sugar and mint. They should have said that they didn’t have the ingredients for it. We would have ordered a different drink. We ordered appetizers and a main dish but they decided to bring everything all at once. The experience felt very rushed as though they were trying to close up. Which felt particular strange to us considering that our reservation was at 8pm. The food was good but certainly not at the level that we were expecting based on photos and reputation. Or maybe the rushed service didn’t really give us a chance to sit down and enjoy. The whole experience lasted 45 minutes. We left very disappointed.

   For a place that has received so much attention, there was very little that was memorable about this meal. We had decent service, the food was good but not great, and the atmosphere is better elsewhere. Admittedly, if La Olla wasn’t recommended by every online article, I might have a different perception, but this did not even rank in our top 10 meals in Oaxaca.

   The food was very good, but the waitresses were over-worked and sometimes confused. The room is nice enough, but with the windows open the traffic noise from the street below really detracted from the experience.

   Reasonable food but let down by disorganised service. Drinks arrived after the starters and separately. Plates for the starters were cleared after those for the mains and just as the dessert was served

    This was the best mole (by far) that I found in Oaxaca city. In my opinion the food and service was better than other Michelin restaurants I tried in the city. The space is quaint and the waiter we had in the afternoon was knowledgeable and attentive. I ended up at La Olla twice on my trip because of how amazing the food and service was.
