Root & Bone draws its name from the staples of the American diet: meat and vegetables. It promises to deliver culinary excellence with southern charm.
Rooted and raised in the South, Chef Jeff McInnis grew up with southern comfort food and hospitality in his blood. His partner, Chef Janine Booth, hailing from Australia, brings with her a true passion for uniting people through food. This power couple already boasts several successful restaurants across the country and the Caribbean, with numerous accolades including three James Beard Award nominations. They are thrilled to be opening their fourth Root & Bone here in WNC. Root & Bone will showcase their southern-inspired cuisine with a modern twist, featuring award-winning dishes such as the Sweet Tea Brined Fried Chicken, Braised Brisket Meatloaf, Grilled Peach & Tomato Caprese Salad, and Barbecue Spareribs, alongside classic casual items like the R&B Burger, Crispy Fried Chicken Biscuits

My visit to Root and Bone was amazing! The food was great, as well as the service and the restaurant as a whole. Our server was awesome, and recommended some great food! My mom has lots of food sensitivities/allergies, and they noted that immediately and helped her pick out her meal. Would definitely recommend, and will be coming back again!

Great food and great service from our waiter Josh. My Aperol spritz and trout dip was a great starter. But the chicken and waffles were truly the star. Delicious! Highly recommend!!

Fun vibe. I had brunch and ordered breakfast plate. Scrambled eggs were light and fluffy but a bit cold. Not a fan of the “scoop” of grits. They were cold and a little dry. Best part of the plate was the pork belly bacon. Unfortunately it was also cold. I will try the place again for something other than brunch

Food was not quite as good as the last few times we've been there. I had the short rib meatloaf, and it was a bit tough, though still pretty good. Two other party members had the fish, and enjoyed it. The fourth had the chicken and wasn't impressed. It was good, he said, but didn't measure up to the hype on the menu. Wait person was attentive and efficient, but not particularly engaging. Perhaps just an off night over all? We'll return at some point on that assumption.

Noisy and popular. Service is great but food just OK. Two of us wanted the Wedge chopped and tossed but the kitchen wouldn't do it because it would affect the presentation. When the salads came out, presentation was nothing special and it was very hard to eat. Would have been better if it was chopped and tossed.

Entree and appetizer was delicious! The rhubarb pie for dessert was not very good. The rhubarb wasn’t cooked enough and very tough

Took our friend for her birthday. Everyone enjoyed their meal and were very pleased. Staff was very nice and the food came out quickly and as we requested. Couldn’t ask for more.

We traveled here from Wisconsin and was looking for something local and unique. My husband had the short rib meatloaf and finished his plate! I had the fried chicken…chef’s kiss! The peach sweet iced tea was amazing! Thank you for a wonderful meal and experience!
