As mentioned on a previous post by another reviewer, not crazy about the surcharge prior to booking, however, there is a rationale. This is one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had with food service. Great ambience and interaction by all staff. They really know the food and the taste of the food. More importantly, they are clearly educated about the food contents and taste, which demonstrates how much care and detail goes into their efforts. Five star service. The Brussel sprouts have to be tasted, and with the menu changing daily, it’s hard to describe how good the beets and Brie appetizer was in writing. My wife and I just discussed ordering four appetizers as our next meal, one at a time for the full flavour profile experience. Highly recommend. Will be back.

Buns and Brussels are a non-negotiable. Cocktails in Charlie’s are incredible.

Excellent from start to finish -we had a chef's bar dinner (highly recommend this!) - from the host who welcomed us with great energy, to the waiter, co-owner (we think), head chef on the line chatting with us before we ordered sharing how things work, to the ambience and vibe of the place, we loved this experience. You can tell there is thought at every level here, and the food was amazing (brussell sprouts with popcorn and grapes?? - SO good). Just go :)

A lovely meal in a great ambience, the server allowed us to catch up with the right amount of attention and space. Delicious!

Found the “sharing” concept difficult. Plates were difficult to divide up at the table and portion size meant it really was only a bite of each dish per person at our table of 4. The roasted cabbage and sable fish were tasty, however, others missed the mark.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Salt and Brick. Our server was attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding. Our carrot with prosciutto / fois gras appetizer was delicious, the beef short ribs were so tender and flavourful, and the churro snake for dessert was so fluffy, light and tasty with the maple miso glaze that it disappeared in moments. The reason I cannot in good conscience give 5 stars, is the ridiculous, punitive policy of requiring a pre-booking deposit on VISA with a $25/person charge for cancellations. Maybe in COVID, that was necessary because of all the disgruntled anti-vaccers trying to block diners but not now. Imagine a table of 4 having to cancel for an emergency or whatever getting charged $100 for nothing but the opportunity to dine here. Very pretentious. How about being thankful for reservations and your patrons? Highly suggest reconsidering. Perhaps a check in text to see if the person still needs the reservation instead as many other restaurants do. Until this policy is withdrawn, I will not be returning nor recommending to others.

Food was quite slow coming out of the kitchen, they offered to buy us dessert but it ended up on the bill anyways. But the food was amazing and the ambiance was very nice.
