Having always been at the heart of Valley life, the 17th century Shibden Mill Inn was originally a corn and spinning mill, before being converted into a country pub in 1890.

Today’s visitors are welcomed with warm hospitality to enjoy first class dining against an inviting backdrop of open fires, low beamed ceilings and a cosy bar. Eleven individually styled bedrooms make comfortable and luxurious retreats, epitomising boutique country style and featuring lots of thoughtful touches.

And if you can drag yourself away from the Inn, there are wonderful walks from the doorstep and world class attractions within easy reach. For a spot of retail therapy or a cultural fix, Halifax is a 10-minute drive and Leeds is just 30 minutes away.

Shibden Mill Inn has an adventurous menu. As a occasional visitor, it is always a pleasure to sample new tastes and textures. That's a pleasure when so many other venues plump for well tried dishes. It is not cheap but it does give value. We were lucky as the restaurant was not busy so the noise levels were low, added to which the staff were very attentive, and the food impeccably cooked and served. This all made for a very enjoyable outing.

Starting to look tired No roast beef option at table booked for18.30 Ordered pork loin but came as a loin chop. Don’t like meat on bone Yet again a dog in the dining room despite being told for 8 years that can’t bring a dog. Same experience in December. Not lost but need to get back to the excellent place it was

It was my birthday and I wanted to treat my guests to lunch and ambience that was a bit special - not serving just the “pub classics”. The Shibden was recommended to us - it was our first visit - and you didn’t disappoint. We’ll be back, however…..maybe during a weekday as (to be expected) the ambience of Sunday lunchtime got louder as the afternoon progressed.

We enjoyed the fantastic taster menu with wine pairing. The food, staff and setting were perfect. Would definitely do it again.

Going to rural pubs in Yorkshire and being a vegetarian is a hard one. It’s often very similar food and it all comes down to the cooking of it. Tremendous gnocchi, wonderful focaccia for starter and delicious choux pastry (I’ve not had choux that well made in years). My partner wanted about 5 onion crumpets to eat and thoroughly enjoyed the duck as well. Enjoyed by both. Ambience was lovely, venue was lovely, brilliant and friendly service.

AMAZING! I heard it recently won an award so I took my uncle and my dad for his birthday. We all unanimously announced "that was the best meal I've ever had" at the same time! The haggis on toast with a fried egg on top and hp gravy is not only daring, but absolutely wonderful. 11/10, I'll be back, check it out your partner/friend/loved one will love it. Staff were really nice too.

Best steak I’ve probably had. Excellent staff, always there when you need them. Bit more than your average pub grub… but well worth it. Highly recommend.
