Welcome to Shrimp Shack - Broad Street, we look forward to serving you. We are dedicated to celebrating the best in Seafood with traditional South African spices, working with suppliers from all around the country to create our signature Seafood dishes– made with the best quality produce. All our kitchen products are Halal Certified and all the drinks are alcohol free and that’s where our values stand with the exceptional flavourful food.
Shrimp Shack defers to the majority of restaurants, with our concept of having to pay up front. We believe the food should not come on the extra cost of service and that’s why no service charge has been included on your bill but without lowering the restaurant service and overall experience.

Ordered the SS boil. Had to pay upfront! I paid in cash and even though it was less than £1, I didn’t receive my change or a receipt. (There was only 3 other tables of 2 customers at the time) It was nice but not wow for £100. Rice lacks any flavour. Chips were like steak chips but they were good and crispy. Egg was clearly cooked too far in advance as the yolk had turned that dark stain colour. Lobster was the best thing on the plate. There was plenty of sauce which was flavourful and a pot of sauce to dip. Little spicy but perfect for those that don’t like much spice but personally it could have been more spicy for me. Sausage was a bit weird. It was a couple thin slices of I don’t know, it was not normal sausage or frankfurter that you would expect. It looks a lot on arrival, but when you split it out for two, it’s for each 1 lobster, 1 egg, 2 slices of sausage, 3 half’s of a new potato and around 4 king prawns, half a corn two slice of calamari and half the portion of chips and rice. I mean it filled me up but I wasn’t stuffed. Mocktails (no alcohol) nice but a bit on the expensive side for nearly £7. Customer service though was excellent. Very attentive. Overall, I would go back again but order something different.

Over all it’s good value for money in terms of the quantity of the seafood but the quality is not the best. Needs to improve on the blue gloves as very cheap and kept splitting while eating. The lobster was very very rubbery along with the calamari, my honest opinion I would not recommend this restaurant the anyone the only good thing about the seafood boil was the rice and chips.

I would not recommend or be returning. The service was absolutely slow, they make you pay each time you order something like a drink or starter etc. The sea food Boil we ordered was full of oil. Flavour was like a curry sauce 100% was not a sea food Boil. The Rice had no flavour, salmon was too salty. The drinks was medium just full of ice and colouring. Ended up getting my full refund.

We arrived slightly early for our 8:45 booking and told no tables are available so we left for 10 minutes and returned at our booking time. We then were left at the doorway for 15 minutes until someone finally came and spoke to us then another 5 mins later we were seated. We then waited another 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. When the server came to our table he then told us it would be another 40 minutes until any food would be available, so we left. Really wanted to try this place but did not get the opportunity.

More chefs needed food takes long to receive, the took payment before the food came out and it took like 1hour to receive the food

Not as great as it's advertised. Overpriced for fried food. Had the lobster tail which was over cooked but the garlic butter gave it some flavour. Very noisy, our waiter seated us and told us they would be back to explain the menu but didn't come back. So had to wait over 20 mins to get someone's attention. Atmosphere packed, looked like they had air vents but didn't appear in use as our eyes started to sting from the smoke and cooking. Our clothes stank when we left. They make you pay as you order (but like a fast food chain) so when you leave you don't get an opportunity to give feedback.

Honestly service was poor, they forgot my drink . Had to ask for it a few times. We had for mains and the 3rd came very late which was only a burger and fries. My friends nearly finished theirs when mine came. It doesn’t make sense we have to get our own waters if we are wearing gloves covered in food. We were over charged and lied to . Was excited to try but honestly meh. Mac and cheese lacked flavour .

The service was good, everyone was really polite but very pricey and the menu is very rigid, the mains come with two sides but if you dont like the set sides you’re not allowed to swap. Given how much you’re paying it would be nice for there to be some compromise so people can have the meals they want. The seasoning is nice but an improvement would be if most of it was on the actual prawns rather than the shell but they come butterflied which is really good and makes it easier to eat.
