Welcome to Shu, once the name of Sichuan province, southwest China, now home of innovative plant-based cooking in Collingwood, Melbourne

Currently we are offering a 10 course vegan degustation. Inspired by Sichuan cuisine, this plant based set menu is all about innovated Chinese cuisine, embracing the healthy plant eating and showcasing seasonal local Victorian produce. From raw and chilled appetisers to fiery but mouthwatering authentic Sichuan flavours of the street food to complimenting premium wines and cocktails, Shu takes you on an adventurous journey of modern Chinese cooking.

Shu's 10 course vegan degustation has been a house signature since 2015. Inspired by China's southwest Sichuan cuisine, Shu presents a modern Chinese dining experience with his hometown flavours using only seasonal and local produce. Starting with plant oyster dish celebrating tofu, and a hand crafted pot plant, this set menu takes diners through multiple courses and showcases various cooking methods, flavours and textures. It is designed for the curious palettes and adventurous minds. Please allow 2 hours for this experience. Available every night when open.

Fabulous hidden gem - my daughter and I absolutely loved this place. Interior was stunning, the food impeccable and delicious, and our waiter was so lovely. We will definitely be back

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a 10-course degustation at an extraordinary restaurant that redefines fine dining. From the moment I entered, the ambiance set the stage for an unforgettable evening. The service was impeccable, with staff providing just the right amount of attention—attentive yet unobtrusive. Each dish was a work of art, both visually and in flavor. The flavors were well thought out, with each course providing a delightful progression, building in complexity without overwhelming the palate. The attention to detail and the culinary mastery displayed throughout the meal made this one of the most exceptional dining experiences I’ve ever had. This restaurant truly deserves its five-star reputation for offering a sensational, unforgettable gastronomic journey.

Amazing experience at Shu. The food was full of flavour and plenty of it. Great value and fresh, delicious ingredients - highly recommend!

Sorely disappointed with the all you can eat Yum Cha The mocktails were sickly sweet & lacked anything fresh The food was either dry, hard or strangely combined We won’t be returning

We were very excited to take our mother for yum cha for her birthday and ended up disappointed. The food was underwhelming. It tasted like a lot of the dishes were frozen and microwaved just before serving. Several items on the menu were different from what was advertised online on their website, and the dishes that were the same looked different from the photos. The pace of service was so slow, we would eat a tiny morsel and then wait ten minutes for the next course, despite it being “bottomless”, we left still a bit hungry. The one dish we enjoyed the most, they ran out of when we requested more. It seemed strange that there was no dessert. When we went to pay, the server verbally asked if we wanted to tip, which was an awkward interaction. Overall, not worth the money.

We really loved the food, well 3 out of five dishes were totally yum the other 2…just ok! Service was excellent and drinks delish! Thanks guys and ladies in kitchen!
