Welcome to Shu, once the name of Sichuan province, southwest China, now home of innovative plant-based cooking in Collingwood, Melbourne

Currently we are offering a 10 course vegan degustation. Inspired by Sichuan cuisine, this plant based set menu is all about innovated Chinese cuisine, embracing the healthy plant eating and showcasing seasonal local Victorian produce. From raw and chilled appetisers to fiery but mouthwatering authentic Sichuan flavours of the street food to complimenting premium wines and cocktails, Shu takes you on an adventurous journey of modern Chinese cooking.

Inspired by China's southwest Sichuan cuisine, Shu presents a modern Chinese dining experience with his hometown flavours using only seasonal and local produce. Starting with plant oyster dish celebrating tofu, and a hand crafted pot plant, this set menu takes diners through multiple courses and showcases various cooking methods, flavours and textures. It is designed for the curious palettes and adventurous minds. Please allow 2 hours for this experience. Available every night when open.

After hearing about this place in high regard, we finally decided to go down and try out some high level plant based cuisine. From the first few seconds of entering we were met by a warm welcome by the staff and an incredible vibe from the restaurant itself, with beautiful decor and aesthetic. The service was incredible, passionate and knowledgeable while they handed us over superb dish by dish upon the course menu. The food was elegant, well thought out and unique. I have never tried some of these flavours before, but they were all delectable and well presented. I always have hesitations going to finer dining experiences because i do also want to be satiated whilst having an empty stomach prior to, so i can truly enjoy the food. Our table left with a full belly and a full heart. Thanks Shu!

Incredible experience having the 10 course meal I loved it ! So beautifully thought out and presented and of course was delicious. also the restaurant itself is stunning, really cool design I’ve never seen anything like it - would highly recommend :)

Awesome experience all round! Very well thought out menu (including drinks) and very creative. Good value for money. Can’t wait to take everyone I know here so that they can experience it too!

My partner and I had the 10-course degustation. Food wasn’t bad, just not worth the price. Some unique dishes stood out amongst an array of over-salted ones. The Saturday surcharge of 10% was an unfortunate 11th surprise of the night.

Shu is an absolute hidden gem in Melbourne! A must go, my favourite vegan restaurant for an amazing and unique dining experience. Shu is a superstar, Thankyou for your delicious creations!

We always have an amazing food and drinks experience every time we visit, this time featuring the delicious wines of Xiaopu. I wish I could pick a favourite dish but honestly each one was unique and so delicious. Thank you!

Second Mothers Day at Shu and equally amazing. Good fab. Shu charming. Total spoiling. Had the degustation … phew.. bc wouldn’t want to have to choose from the menu. All delicious. Thank you Shu @ Shu, we will be back
