    I pre booked a Christmas meal for my family with 18 guests on a Wednesday evening. Firstly, I would like to point out our complaint is not with the young lady waiting on that evening as she did her best considering it was her first night and on her own. The pubs poor and lack of management for preparing for the evening resulted in our actual meals and experience being poorly executed. Considering all our meals were pre ordered and the pub not being overly busy we were annoyed the meals came out slowly and disjointed with long waits in between some of our party getting their meals. Some guests' meals were served with just part of the meal therefore left waiting quite a while before the rest of their meal was served. The quality of most of their meals was questionable with food being tough and overcooked or bits missing.. We made sure we mentioned the problems at the time to the girl serving us, to which she tried her best to resolve. For a party of 18 for a pre booked/ordered Christmas meal I would have expected at least 2 staff serving our table and the chef to know exactly what we had ordered and be familiar with the menu. My sister went to find the manager to make them aware of our concerns and she was told they would discount our bill accordingly. When I went to the bar to sort out and pay the bill the manager had yet to put all our food order on the system which I found unprofessional considering the pub already had the order over a week before. We didn't have confusion of adding drinks to the bill as we all paid for our drinks at the bar throughout the evening. Therefore, it should have been a simple task of paying for the overall food bill with the discount. Due to the confusion and delay of waiting for the bill to be sorted and then having to remind the manager after I'd paid that she hadn't taken off my pre paid deposit , I forgot to mention the discount she had agreed with my sister. So we didn't end up having any discount.

    The booking was cancelled due to your establishment having kitchen issues that day, could have rebooked for the evening, but that was not convenient. The girl who phoned to inform me that the booking had to be cancelled was very pleasant and apologetic. Was offered a free bottle of wine if i booked again. I dont drink so this isnt of much use to me. Therefore, i dont know when or if i shall be booking again in the future.

    It is a wonderful place, fantastic food and very reasonable price drinks. Have been previously, recommended to friends and will definitely be back.

    The food was delicious and the waiting staff were all very polite - some were clearly new, but did a very good job at making us feel welcome. The only downside was there was a DJ who started at just after 8pm which made it very hard for us to have a conversation, even though we were sat in the restaurant side of the pub. Overall though I would definitely come back, just perhaps not on a Friday night!

    The food is great but it is very slow. Just make sure you leave time to enjoy a leisurely meal and you will have a great time.

    On arrival the booking through Open Table wasn’t in their book! The person who served us throughout our visit was excellent, friendly, professional and helpful. Four of us had the Sunday roast dinner, the kale and mashed potatoes were lukewarm, the red cabbage over sweetened, the pork and beef chewy no flavour. One of the dinners had a piece of chicken that was returned, chef sent an apology and gave one free dessert. One of us has steak pie and chips which looked more like a child’s portion than an adult’s. We had high hopes and were left feeling disappointed overall. Didn’t make a fuss because the person serving us was on their own. More staff needed.

    Pub looks nice from the outside, the food was okay, the new girl who was on her first shift there was left to do everything on her own and was then blamed once she had left for something that wasn’t her fault but somebody who looked like a manager. On top of all of this, there were parents letting their screaming brats run around the pub into the eating area where someone unrelated had to tell them to stop. We definitely won’t be coming back any time soon.

    Family get together on Christmas Day. Food was hot, tasty and plentiful. Small issue with a steak which was quickly resolved. Service was exceptional, polite, courteous, extremely helpful and with a smile on their face. Pleasant atmosphere to allow conversation over the table without having to be loud. Only small issue was being sat next to the entrance door, so draughty, but we didn't book enough in advance so a bit last minute, therefore easily excused.

    Worst roast dinner Iv every had. Chicken on a bone not stated on the menu, beef was so tough it wasn’t edible. A few carrots and wilted cabbage on the side it was so poor. We ordered cauliflower cheese which didn’t come with the dinner we asked where it was to be told it will be out in a min, it turned up after we had finished. I told the waiter we’ve finished yet he still put it on the table, and asked how was the meal, I told him it was poor and he shrugged and walked off. Even tried to charge me for the cauliflower cheese at the till no apology or anything it was shocking I would never recommend.
