The Sondes Arms, Rockingham, is a 16th Century coaching inn, with amazing views of Rockingham Castle and Church. Having recently undergone a full refurbishment, The Sondes Arms offers a delightful Bar and Restaurant ideal for every occasion.

We pride ourselves as a family friendly public house & serve a traditional pub menu of home cooked food. In addition we serve our beautiful home cooked carvery all day Sunday and now Wednesday and Friday evenings along with a great range of lagers, ales and wines

Great value Sunday night roast, very tasty and staff polite and friendly. Very good, not quite 5 star but no complaints either!

Our Sunday Carvery was all good with good meats and veg bowls regularly topped up. Deserts good too but it took a long time to get one coffee at the end of our meal.

Good food - hot and fresh but waited quite a while even though it was not very busy. When food did arrive we were missing a side dish which did not arrive until near the end of the meal despite 3 reminders to the staff. Seemed very disorganised and staff need more training. A real shame as this previously was a great place. Our waitress seemed to work hard but we waited ages for a second cup of tea. As a business they could make more money by checking in with Customers and asking if they would like more drinks, desserts etc. we planned to have desserts but paid and left instead.

Quality of the food was excellent and value for money through to 2 course meal deal was very good. Lovely decor and layout and the service was helpful, pleasant and very accommodating (we were 15 minutes late). A couple of errors in the order but that may have been caused by the rush to deal with it before the kitchen closed due to our delayed arrival. It would have been nice if there was more than one ale available but what we had was very well kept. It is unclear from the web site regarding when the kitchen is open and we didn’t realise that it closed at 2pm.

We returned to the Sondes Arms after having a loving Christmas afternoon tea last year. Unfortunately it wasn't as nice this year. You got a little bit of everything instead of choosing what you wanted meaning there were things that we didn't like, so there was wastage. The Yorkshire pudding wraps were delicious and so were the puddings. Unfortunately the roast potatoes were luke warm and overcooked, which were very disappointing. One of our table members had a normal meal and unfortunately got forgotten about and ended up eating on their own. Overall a bit disappointing.

The service today was very slow,the carvery was only warm and the roast potatoes were burnt and very hard to cut as they tasted as if they had been sat there for a long time,the veg was quite tough too not very fresh. We had to wait about 20 minutes for our desert to come out after asking the waittress where it was. We had also been seated by the door that led to leaving the pub and the toilets so kept getting a very cold draught while eating, maybe don't put a table so close to the door.

Carvery was delicious and plentiful, despite being busy we were served very quickly, waitress staff all very pleasant
