Aptly named for its locale, Southern Social nestles up to the old Southern Railway’s historic Germantown Depot and sits adjacent to Southern Avenue.

Owners of downtown Memphis’ Flight Restaurant and Wine Bar have opened Southern Social. The top tier fine dining restaurant will reflect the high standards established at Flight.

The restaurant features a chef-inspired menu, offering fresh seafood and prime steaks. Southern Social brings exceptional specialty cocktails and Flight’s award-winning wine selections.

    Service was friendly, but slow. Didn’t explain the menu initially. Confusion over wines available as wine by the glass. Kitchen was “backed up”, slowing service. Food was good. However, the petite steak was over cooked. They did comp the steak to make it right. The room was very noisy. It was a full room. At a table for two, it was very difficult to have a conversation. Overall the ambience is nice. I would opt for a seat outside in cooler weather to avoid the noise issues inside.

    I did make this reservation for outdoor seating without realizing how loud it would be. I will definitely dine inside in future reservations

    Southern Social is great, but their staff is excellent. Our waitress Caitlin Crouse was super busy that evening but we felt like her only customers. Every desire, every request was fulfilled, and so the evening was a pleasure due to Caitlin. Mr. Jody Miller (manager) was watching every step of his staff and helped them all. A nice girl Addie brought water, paper napkins, everything without asking. Super evening, thanks very much.

    The service was very attentive, but definitely not too much! Everything tasted great and the bread pudding was amazing! Hi there, I’m here for the golf tournament Fraser FRA you do the same thank you

    Very pleased to have chosen Social. From the valet to the final check everything was great. Very nice menu, including some interesting cocktails. Our server was very well trained, knew the menu well, and made some recommendations including the the Pork chop which I had , and the lamb spare ribs. This will be a go to spot.

    Our server, Alina was amazing! She recommended the pimento cheese appetizer and it did not disappoint. The drinks were very tasty and not the same ole same you see at every other restaurant. I had the pork chop the Brussels and the sweet potato casserole. All were top notch. Others had shrimp and grits as well as salmon. Two days later and we are all still talking about how great the meal was. As with all dining the service can make or break the experience. Alina was attentive but not overbearing. We didn’t order desert but Alina brought us chocolate covered strawberries to put a bow on our evening! Unexpected but such a thoughtful small gesture. We will dine here again and we will request Alina as our server.
