Since 1979 Spanish Flowers Mexican Restaurants was founded by Mary L Bernal’s who is a Houston-area native, that has been fascinated with the traditional Mexican cuisine since her childhood spending her summers with relatives outside of Guadalajara, Mexico. There she spent her time learning and perfecting the authentic dishes that came to flourish and that one can continue to enjoy today at the Spanish Flowers Mexican Restaurant. This family-owned and operated restaurant has been pleasing palates and creating a devoted following, pleasing its customers with a little taste of Mexico, from the food to the atmosphere. In 2009, the restaurant came to embrace the arrival of the Hernandez family, who in coalition with Mrs. Bernal, have managed to expand and nurture the dream that was born back in 1979. Together they continue to expand on the legacy of providing Houstonians, and Texans families the authentic dishes that they’ve come to grow and love.

Went in during the hurricane was very patient understand the circumstances and being short staffed. Was very understanding until three tables were served both drinks and food before my party of 2. Finally got the server and voiced the frustration he then retook our order and brought out our food along with other tables that came in way after us. Very disappointed waited two hours to be served luke warm food that wasn’t even as appealing as iguana joes.

Well I go there a lot but I will not go back when there is a storm or emergency. To their defense they were short staff. The waiters, one busboy and one manager were all doing their best to get people serviced and claim because customers like me were getting irritated with the wait and lack of service. However, I will go back but never when there is a shortage of staff. Sorry, but I still enjoy eating there.

I took my in-laws that were in town and they raved about the food and service. I personally go there a lot because of both. They will come back when they are in town again.

Great place for Tex mex! Been around for decades and you can tell most of the employees have worked there for a long time! Food is great.

Restaurant was nice. Parking lot was nonexistent, it was so loud inside that you couldn’t really hear the person in front of you. Service was extremely slow, we waited 15 minutes for dessert.

Bad service, food was not impressive and our cars that were self parked were blocked by valet . They had to move 7 cars to get our cars out , wasted 35 mins waiting in the parking lot for this .

The food was good. I enjoyed it. The portions are large. However, I did not find it to be any better than average. I had the "Spanish Flowers Dinner." I did like that the food was not overwhelmed by an overdose of chili powder like some other Mexican restaurants. I wasn't disappointed - but I wasn't "amazed," either. It looks like they could easily accomodate large parties. They also serve Carta Blanca beer which, for me, is a BIG plus!
