A contemporary British pub with an astonishing dining room. St Johns serves well sourced, seasonal British food along with classic European regional dishes. We source our produce from British farms and sustainable sources, and everything is made on the premises. Service is relaxed but efficient and the ambience is one of ease and conviviality.

St Johns Tavern & Idle + Wonder are excited to welcome Sophia Pelizzoli, a London based private chef & ceramic artist, for a special end-of-winter supper club. Known for her hand painted tableware and heartfelt approach to cooking, Sophia creates meals that bring people together in the most beautiful way. We’ll gather around a stunning table set with Sophia’s ceramics, surrounded by candles, flowers and elegant silverware. A night of seasonal flavours, good, company and unforgettable moments. Tickets are £65 per person - This includes 3 courses and a welcome drink. Friday 28th of February 7pm @St Johns Tavern

The Kids' Table is here every Sunday 12-4pm The Kids’ Table is a weekly pop-up kids’ corner service for pubs and restaurants. Its team of creative playworkers will keep an eye on the nippers enjoying crafts, games and table-top fun; meaning parents can enjoy a long leisurely lunch...and finish a sentence. Fantastic as ever. Food and wine were excellent (quality and value). I wish they served it on hot plates though. Will always go back

Great Sunday roast. Really lovely friendly staff. Made us and our little doggie feel very welcome. How all pubs should be.

Always a pleasure to dine at St John's - been coming for over 25 years - and it never disappoints. In Summer - it can be beautiful to sit outside in their small but surprisingly accommodating garden - the interior is always stylish and inviting. Good for intimate dinners or lunches for two, for large family tables or indeed hiring the whole restaurant out. Better to sit closer to the fire than the kitchen end of the dining room.

Food was great as always. Staff were generally lovely, but had to be chased a few times for things like the bill, card machine and condiments to accompany our roasts. Noise level is moderate, but this is due to the large open room. Although we pick this pub for that reason as we had a potentially noisy toddler with us. Would be nice to see some mocktails on the menu, but nothing major.

I love St John’s Tavern, especially their Sunday Roasts, but for me being a non-parent, it is sometimes overtaken on a Sunday by kids running around throughout every area, which does negatively affect the ambience.

Fantastic value Sunday roast beef lunch £24 including all the trimmings. Service super friendly. I have been coming here about 40 years & it’s now at its peak. Superb!

Excellent dining room. High ceilings provide great acoustics even though busy. We had booth which was spacious for 5. Excellent service. Bavette steak delicious. No hassle to get us out and we enjoyed a leisurely evening

We had a fantastic Sunday meal here and made use of the excellent kidstable activity. The service was brilliant and the food was delicious. The best meat in a roast we’ve had out in a while!

We ordered all the starters and they were amazing. Highly recommended. The staff were welcoming and made it a relaxing experience.
