Born in Seattle near the heart of historic Pike Place Market, SUGO is Seattle’s first dedicated hand roll bar. Our handrolls meet at the intersection of the freshest seafood from the Pacific Northwest and Tokyo, fluffy Koshihikari rice, and the crispiest nori this side of Japan.

We believe in sourcing our sustainable seafood responsibly so we work closely with local fishmongers who share our commitment to ocean health, ensuring that every bite supports healthy ecosystems and vibrant fisheries. The open-style temaki allows guests to enjoy a wide variety of flavors, in fun-to-eat and visually tempting bites. SUGO aims to reimagine the Seattle sushi experience by taking inspiration and paying homage to the preparation and quality of traditional Japanese sushi but introducing new fusion flavors and incorporating various other Asian and West Coast flavors.

Fun idea. Kind of limited menu and small space, but we got in fine with reservation. Service could have been more attentive. Took a long time for drinks to arrive. These are "hand rolls" but not the ice cream-cone shaped you might expect. That said, the fish was fresh and they had some creative rolls.

We came in early and Sugo wasn’t yet full. Nice ambiance and not being busy yet gave us time to chat with Chef Mike. He served us amazing rolls, every one, and he was friendly and helpful with the short menu. It would be nice if the cocktails used liquor instead of wine. Amazing place and I highly recommend.

I had an incredible time, I went during my work trip mid May, and to this day I still think about how great the food was, how fantastic the service was, and how memorable the atmosphere was. I’d have stayed longer or at least ordered more if I could, but I went late in the day. I look forward to bringing a date here to enjoy some of the best seafood Seattle has to offer.

We were disappointed at the number of things you were out of on the menu. The concept is so great and generally it was good for the value. The sushi bar behind the scenes was pretty messy and disorganized which felt a little awkward that you could see the mess and everything. Not like a typical sushi bar which feels clean, intentional and organized. We didn’t really know who our server was or how to order the experience was underwhelming.

Overall the food was fairly good; however, a few ingredients/menu items weren’t available by early dinner time. The food quality was good, yet the portion per serving is relatively small compared to other nearby restaurants. The cocktails were good. I don’t think I would go again. There are other nearby restaurants offer more tasty food options with better prices for the same type of food.

We were a party of 4 and sat at the sushi bar. It was great to observe how the food was made. Only downside was it was tough to converse with the group but that was the trade off. Food was fresh and service was great. The Truffle Avocado was so tasty and the edamame was the best I’ve had in a while. It was a little pricey but for the location and the food, it was worth it.
