Locally owned and operated, TAVERN ON SOUTH is a casual, yet sophisticated restaurant and bar located in the shadow of Lucas Oil Stadium and just a short walk from Victory Field as well as the Convention Center and downtown business district. Our menu is focused on seasonally inspired selections utilizing fresh, quality ingredients. Our well stocked bars feature regional craft beers on draft making TAVERN ON SOUTH a favorite spot for a refreshing beverage.

Our two-story, brick building built in 1910 features a warm, inviting interior that includes a bar and outdoor dining on both levels. The second level deck that looks out to the downtown skyline is the best seat in Indy, perfect for catching some sun over the lunch hour or dining with your friends on a beautiful Indiana evening. Plus, we have plenty of complimentary on-site parking!!!

I think we just got the short end of the stick. Our food took longer than you would expect for how busy they were and it was delivered cold. We were in a rush to get to the game so we ate it. I ordered chili. So I ate a cold bowl of $9 chili. The beer on draft was flat. The Moscow mule was overly sweet and not strong. The tacos were super tiny and cold. The burger we ordered medium well was rare to medium rare. We won’t be returning but it’s a good location if you’re going to game at Lucas Oil if you want to roll the dice. The server did discount our bill and was nice.

We ate before the 7pm IHSAA State Championship Game. Service and food were great and timely.

Incredibly loud upstairs! Lots of large groups. We were only a table of three, think downstairs would have been more quiet. Food was just okay, nothing special but our server, Turquoise, was fantastic!

The food is always solid. Services was a bit sketchy, but reasonable. It wasn’t crowded, so the noise level was nice for a small group.

Absolutely loved the ribs! The flatbread was underwhelming. Happy to get a meal in a pinch in walking distance from my hotel for a conference.

Our server made it obvious they were overworked, running around and not looking at us when they took our order, only being quickly friendly when they dropped off the bill. The food and drinks were fine but It was all kind of funny.

Our server was friendly and helpful, but the food was disappointing. The cowboy burger was dry and lacking in flavor with the BBQ sauce being the dominant flavor. The Mahi Mahi fingers were a bit soggy and a small serving given the $18. price tag. It’s close to Lucas Oil, but that isn’t enough to make us consider going back.
