Taxman CityWay is a gastropub and beer garden located in an 1850s renovated livery building, right in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. This family friendly gastropub features three full service bars offering 20 rotating Taxman beers, local ciders and a wide variety of wine and spirits, as well as a pet-friendly outdoor patio. The seasonal menu highlights local and regional farmers and is anchored by a wide variety of local beef burgers, steaks, housemade pretzels, seasonal sandwiches, Belgian-style French fries (commonly referred to as “frites”) and Belgian-style Liege waffles.

Situated directly next door to Gainbridge Fieldhouse and several blocks from Lucas Oil Stadium, Taxman CityWay offers one of the largest patios in downtown Indianapolis and has a stage featuring live music throughout the spring, summer and fall. A second floor private event space features the lofted ceilings, a modern fireplace, private bar and old-world charm.

Happy Hour did not disappoint! We had an employee/retiree gathering. This was the perfect spot to connect, enjoy some great beer, good food, and outstanding service. Thanks to the whole team at Taxman CityWay!

Food today was terrible. Cornbread was ice cold, hard as a brick, dry, nasty. Rib’s dry, nasty. Drink terrible. Coleslaw gross. I didn’t even eat it. Told the server it was terrible he said oh- sorry. That’s it. Had to go home and fix food.

I started with the Auditor which was a not-too-spicy Rye Old Fashioned. Superb! We had the candied wagyu bacon appetizer which was decadent. I followed up with a Caesar salad, complete with anchovies. I was also very pleased with the Sazerac I ordered, it was maybe even better than the Old Fashioned. The Sea Bass was outstanding, and it came with possibly the best carrots I have ever tasted; I wish I knew how they doctored them. The fish came on a bed of risotto as well, with a side of brussel sprouts. Everything was very good, 100% would recommend.

Excellent service from Morgan; she was professional, yet fun and very knowledgeable. Food was exceptional, this was my 2nd visit and plan on coming back!

This is a unique restaurant that is beautifully designed. The food was very good and everyone in our group was happy with their choice. Our service was very good. I will definitely be a return customer.

Amazing food and service. The fries and burgers were amazing and the beer selection was great. If you're in Indy, this is a must stop!

Service was great. Food was ok. Ordered a burger well done and it came with pink. A friend ordered her steak medium rare and it was well done. The fries were not fresh or very hot, and side salad was just ok. Honestly just not food I’d go back for, but the location, service, and ambience were great for before the show.

Arrived at 5:30 o our reservation. Wait staff was prompt and received drinks and ordered food by 5:40. Longs story short by 6:45 we still hadn’t received our food despite multiple questions to our server and other servers. At that point we asked our server to cancel the food as we had to be at Pacers game by 7:00. The server said she had to talk to the manager and didn’t return for 10 minutes. We finally went to the host desk and paid for our drinks. The manager was standing there and said nothing. We noticed other guests having similar issues. We’ve eaten there before games in the past with no issues. We don’t blame the server as she did what she could. The place seems to be horribly mismanaged. We will not be returning.
