wanted to love this so badly considering how unique a concept however we had some of the worst service we have ever experienced . Had a $27 bar bill gave the waiter $40 and he never came back with change. Had to flag down a manager to let them know that he kept our money and we would like change. We did intend to tip, but the fact that he never brought it back was concerning. On a Thursday night there were only about five tables of diners so not super busy or crowded. Our appetizers took 45 minutes. Our entrées took an hour and a half. Waitress never checked on us or came out to tell us the kitchen was running behind or slow. No manager came out to talk to us to explain there was any issue or that the kitchen was backed up , and our food was delayed or to offer a complementary drink or entree etc . Our bill was $176 for good food but took 90 minutes to get the burger and a fish dish . We also had to wait a long time between courses and ordering more drinks . When ordering a cocktail they charged an additional $1 for the tonic or soda for the cocktail. It was not a full restaurant and they seemed to have plenty of servers . The bill was about $500 . Service was very friendly and moderately attentive. Food has some catching up. Menu is too simplistic. Unfortunately two tries at getting get a correct (rare) temperature steak failed. Retry took so long I missed dining with my dinner guests. Hosts were gracious in trying to resolve but retry failed as well, also overdone. Blistered Shishito peppers were properly prepared but way under seasoned. Desserts were very good and salvaged something of the night. Too many nice dining choices in and around Litchfield to spend our dining dollars to think about an immediate return. We wanted to love this so badly considering how unique a concept however we had some of the worst service we have ever experienced . Had a $27 bar bill gave the waiter $40 and he never came back with change. Had to flag down a manager to let them know that he kept our money and we would like change. We did intend to tip, but the fact that he never brought it back was concerning. On a Thursday night there were only about five tables of diners so not super busy or crowded. Our appetizers took 45 minutes. Our entrées took an hour and a half. Waitress never checked on us or came out to tell us the kitchen was running behind or slow. No manager came out to talk to us to explain there was any issue or that the kitchen was backed up , and our food was delayed or to offer a complementary drink or entree etc . Our bill was $176 for good food but took 90 minutes to get the burger and a fish dish . Would not go back because of the service alone .

The Courtroom needs help. We had an 8:30 p.m. on a Sunday for 2. Three of the entrees on the menu were sold out. We ordered steak frites, medium rare. The steak was over-cooked. The cut of steak was tough with gristle. The fries were tasteless. A shame, because when we were here last fall it was superb. We won’t be back.

There was 6 of us. Two of the orders were disappointing. The Rigatoni Bolognese and the Seared Branzino. The Seared Branzino had about 3 fork full at $36 ( Very disappointing) and the Rigatoni serving was more than the fish but more like a child's portion at $29. We also had to wait a long time between courses and ordering more drinks . When ordering a cocktail they charged an additional $1 for the tonic or soda for the cocktail. It was not a full restaurant and they seemed to have plenty of servers . The bill was about $500 . Disappointed with no comp for the fork full of Branzino.
We will not be going back.

Overall food and service were ok but entrance to the hotel is unwelcoming having had to walk through the car port and service was very slow even though the restaurant was practically empty. Our server asked us “are you done picking at your stuff” which was super odd and other tables received their meals and finished even though we had arrived prior to them. Rooftop bar was very pretty - better drinks spot than dinner.

Hi Susan- We are sorry you did not have a better experience. The entrance to the hotel is in the back by the parking lot rather than on West Street, you are able to park back there so that you don't have to enter via a car port. We hope you visit again and are very happy you were able to enjoy the roof!

Excellent food preparation and presentation. Focaccia bread was very fluffy and tasty. Entrees were consistently excellent and desserts were outstanding ( chocolate torte was really good)

Ambience of both the hotel and restaurant are fantastic. Service was very friendly and moderately attentive. Food has some catching up. Menu is too simplistic. Unfortunately two tries at getting get a correct (rare) temperature steak failed. Retry took so long I missed dining with my dinner guests. Hosts were gracious in trying to resolve but retry failed as well, also overdone. Blistered Shishito peppers were properly prepared but way under seasoned. Desserts were very good and salvaged something of the night. Too many nice dining choices in and around Litchfield to spend our dining dollars to think about an immediate return. Too bad!

Second visit to the Courtroom at the Abner Hotel. New menu is quite good! Pork Milanese and Chilean Sea Bass in Saffron Broth are standouts!
