From the alpine elegance of Erbaluce, to the haunting complexity of Spanna (Nebbiolo), and the untamed charm of Vespolina and Croatina, this curated tasting is a rare glimpse into the soul of a region often overshadowed, yet deeply profound. The evening will begin with a welcome toast, followed by a five-course tasting menu meticulously crafted by Chef Hogerheide to complement the nuances of each wine.     The Detroit Foundation Hotel’s celebrated Chef’s Table at The Apparatus Room will host a truly special wine tasting dinner on Tuesday, October 14th at 7PM, featuring one of Italy’s most legendary winemakers, Piero Mastroberardino. Presented in partnership with Ethica Wines, this exclusive evening offers an intimate opportunity to experience the rich history and soulful storytelling behind one of the most iconic names in Italian wine. Mastroberardino is what happens when ten generations of grape whisperers say “no thanks” to trends and “yes please” to legacy. Since the early 1700s, the family has championed Campania’s indigenous grapes—Fiano, Greco, and the brooding, age-worthy Aglianico—while others chased global varietals. Piero’s forebears helped define the region’s identity: from Angelo’s first exports in 1878 to Antonio’s post-WWII vineyard revival that earned him the nickname “vine archaeologist.” Today, Piero stewards 260 hectares across 17 estates, merging deep-rooted tradition with thoughtful innovation. Their Radici Taurasi Riserva 2016 even cracked Wine Spectator’s Top 10 in 2023. In short: they don’t just make wine—they bottle centuries. To complement these storied wines, Executive Chef Rece Hogerheide will present a one-night-only tasting menu inspired by the flavors of southern Italy, carefully curated to highlight each pour’s structure, soul, and history.                                                           We came for the Tiki Party event and were disappointed. To be honest, it was not anything like we expected. It was nothing like a "party" event. It was just a room with tables and chairs.

                                                          The atmosphere and ambience was very nice. The drinks were extremely good. The service was good but the food was just ok. The valet service was not the best. After dinner we decided to leave our car and walk to a nearby speak easy. We came back and was charged an extra $10. I paid the extra but the cashier charged me 20. I didn't know until I read the receipt. I went back and she told me her register can't ring up increments of $10. She tried to give me a refund but couldn't. She had to call her manager which took another 30 mins. Finally after waiting another 20 mins she was able to refund the charges.
