    Excellent food, cool atmosphere! Why do you have to make a request for bread at lunch when u are ordering a dinner….and the bread is automatic in evening. Same meal, same price and waiter said he’d “take care of us.” Don’t want a favor. Just want bread!

    Everyone here, with special thanks to Ricardo, Brian, Chef Felipe & more, truly does what they can to make your dining experience the best! Personal favorites include but not limited to: baked clams, tavern buffalo wings, chocolate mousse cake. The cocktails are always top notch!

    The staff was scarce and inattentive. The truffle chicken was so heavy with garlic, it was inedible. This was our 2nd time here and we were terribly disappointed. Perhaps the Saturday staff is better, but Sunday night’s experience left us seriously considering not returning.

    I’ve came to The Basement a couple time for drinks at the bar but tonight was the first time I sat down for dinner. Simply amazing! Party of 6 and everyone had nothing but great things to say. Keep up the good work guys!

    Really cool little place, with excellent decor and a nice vibe. The food is very good. The octopus and grilled oysters were excellent. The mussels in the roasted garlic cream sauce were tasty, but the mussels themselves weren't very plump. It's not the restaurant's fault. It happens. I guess my one knock is that our "Tavern" burgers were a bit overcooked. I think had it arrived medium rare as requested, it would have tasted much better. Also, it comes with curly fries, which are not my favorite. We'll definitely be back. The menu is a nice departure from most restaurant menus on Staten Island. Interesting drink menu as well. All in all, it's worth the trip.
