The Crathorne Arms is a great pub in a wonderful community spirited village, lovely people, Lord Crathorne himself couldn’t be more supportive, how lucky we are.

Our life has come a full circle from a town pub in Middlesbrough (well Eugene has) to the tontine (McCoys Hotel, Restaurant and Bistro) to a village pub in Crathorne, Ten Minutes from Middlesbrough.

We live above the pub, our furniture and furnishings live downstairs as they can’t and won’t fit up the stairs! So the canoe has the condiments, the bookcases our books, the huge sofa with big squashy cushions to sink into, tin lanterns reflecting patterns on the ceiling, this all makes for a homely feel and that’s what we would like to create along with good wholesome food and drink.

Of Course the staff, front of house and kitchen are all great, hardworking, smiley, enthusiastic young people and a joy to work with.

Continues to be very Eugene McCoy, great ambience and great food. Service was very good, it could be improved by ensuring that all table staff have a great knowledge of the food that they are serving. Highly recommended.

King prawns in sesame seeds and the ham hock terrine were both a taste sensation. Seafood pancake which I had as my main course was as good as it always is. Husband had the cod dish which he said was superb. We need to make a return visit so I can try each other’s meals!!! Thank you David and your kitchen team and all front of house who do a great job.

Very welcoming staff, great decor, unusual and quirky but inviting and cozy. We had the soup and sandwich combo on the lunch menu:pea and ham soup was very flavorful and piping hot, cheese and onion toastie was great and my Mum appreciated the gammon being flaked/chopped in her sandwich. My husband had the chicken and bacon club sandwich which was thoughtfully engineered and tasted great. Side salad ands chips were also good quality, fresh with a tasty dressing on the salad. Everything is freshly made to order so don’t expect your food out immediately, relax, soak in the atmosphere, and warm yourself by one of the roaring fires, you won’t be disappointed.

As one of our usual places to visit, this restaurant never fails to deliver. We had a lovely evening with family and standard of food, atmosphere, table service, staff interaction etc, was everything we have come to expect/experience at this venue

Yet again Eugenes chefs deliver an excellent meal. A young and attentive waiter performed his duties impecccably. A credit to the restaurant. Whether dining from the excellent value pre fix menu or a la carte there is never a disappointment . Well done!

Easy booking process. Food was excellent, we selected from the Prix Fixe menu that was very good value too. The staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Great Sunday lunch the lamb was delicious. Plenty of friendly staff making sure everything was ok. Definitely worth a visit

The food was exquisite, the staff so polite and informative as usual. Two of our party were gluten-intolerant and the choice of mains (didn’t have starters) was very good. It was lovely to have a gluten- free desert that was other than ice-cream and I had the orange tart which was exceptional. Only downside was the thumping music from a private function wasn’t great for fine dining.
