The Crown is an independently run award-winning freehouse in the heart of Hastings Old Town, open at 11am every day. Our kitchen is open 12-4, 5 till 9.
We serve modern British food in a friendly informal environment using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. We create dishes from scratch, including homemade bread, fish from the surrounding seas and seasonal veg.
We serve local real ales & craft beers, wine and a specialist gin and whisky selection and delicious coffee.
'High Top Tables' refers to our high tables with bar stools.
You can book a table for drinks only.
Dogs are welcome, 'paws on the floors' please.
Children welcome, we have a kids menu.
For allergies & intolerances, please let your server know before ordering.
We serve our full menu on a Sunday, but it is not a traditional roast dinner.
Please call us if you are running later than your booked time.
Table bookings for 2 hours for up to 4ppl; 3 hours for 5+ people. Tables from 7pm onwards are for whole evening.

    We went to the Crown for a lovely valentines lunch. The food was superb and excellent value, staff were pleasant and attentive without being overbearing. All in all a wonderful experience.

    We’ve eaten at the Crown many times and it is always reliably good. Delicious food and a lovely friendly atmosphere.

    Delicious food but took over an hour to arrive and they didn’t apologise- maybe they were short of staff? Also the pear and rhubarb fritters were very disappointing- you couldn’t taste the fruit. I usually love it here just a bit of a letdown today.

    Excellent food and service , great range of options on the menu , a table of 8 with a different option to suit all , we really enjoyed every meal ! Highly recommend:) well done to the team !

    One meal great, one okay and the fish finger sandwich greasy and too much sauce so not enjoyed. We wanted a pudding but gave up waiting after not being given a menu or spoken to after 30 mins wait after main course cleared. Love the ambience and drink selection (although both chosen beers from the menu were not on) but the food has been a bit hit and miss lately. Regular customers but probably won’t go back for a while.
