The Daffodil is a Michelin-awarded food-led country pub, with high quality Shepherd's Hut accommodation (bookable directly via The Daffodil website and via Air B&B) in the pretty rural village of Penrhiwllan. Located 4 miles from Newcastle Emlyn, midway between Cardigan, Carmarthen & Aberystwyth, it's an ideal location for a few days rest or a relaxing meal in scenic surroundings.

Food at The Daffodil is freshly prepared using the best quality local produce wherever possible. The menu, available to guests eating in the restaurant, bar areas and outside decking over-looking the unspoilt valley incorporates dishes appropriate for full three-course dining and for those wishing for more traditional bar-meal-style dining. Guests can watch our chefs working in full view in our gallery kitchen, or enjoy the unspoilt view across the valley, eating on the south-facing decking.

Delicious Sunday lunch today, tasty and plentiful. I have given 5 stars, although there was no cauliflower cheese, we did not realise we missed it until discussing on the car on the way home!! The meats were cooked perfectly, between us we had chicken and rib eye. The service was fantastic with pleasant and helpful staff.

Visited the area during a weekend away. Lovely staff and gorgeous food. Will be back when we’re in the area again! Amazing choices for gluten free too so I didn’t feel left out!

Best breakfast (brunch menu)around! Lovely atmosphere, good price. A real treat on a Saturday morning!!

Fantastic food. Lovely warm welcoming feeling the moment we arrived. Quickly served and food arrived promptly. We had sunday lunch. Amazing. Will be visiting again. Best meal out we’ve had 10/10

Not had breakfast at the Daff for quite a while so delighted with the full breakfast with added black pudding. Super stuff. Have you changed the coffee beans you use? Seemed to be a bit richer and nutty which I prefer anyway.

Overall poor food, poor service. Local and over last 10 years this pub varies depending on staff, chef in particular. Winter hours, so maybe a different chef, but this pub can be excellent or diabolical on any visit. This is final time for me. Entertaining family and don't want to be this embarrassed by providing such shoddy food and service ever again

This reply applies to all four of the spiteful reviews you chose to publish about us on the same day, two on Tripadvisor and two on Opentable - which speaks volumes about your character... Please see our full response to your other similar review from 'Penny P', two reviews below this one. The Daffodil is a successful family-run business owned by us for 11 years now. We are proud of our local reputation, being known for excellent food and good service. Our Head Chef of 8 years is amazing & he is renowned for his fabulous Sunday roasts. Yours was the only complaint we received that day, and what motive could you possibly have to post two destructive reviews on both Tripadvisor and Open table in different names?!! Hugh & Gill.
