   We had a wonderful late Sunday lunch here. We had a friendly welcome, the serving ladies were so friendly and the food was delicious.

   Fantastic food and friendly service. We stayed the night in very comfortable rooms a day breakfast was also excellent.

   We have been visiting The Duke William for around four years after relocating to the area. We absolutely love this pub, the food and the team. We have never had a poor experience at The Duke William and have brought friends and family here numerous times. It’s not the cheapest pub but I don’t mind paying for quality. It seems that the menu has changed and not for the better. The Chicken wings used to be crispy, juicy and easy to handle. The wings were cut into two pieces and therefore a much easier share and eat. On Saturday they arrived on the plate, as three full wings. Trying to handle them was really difficult and sharing around the table impossible. We did mention this to our waitress and she said that the menu had changed. This may seem petty but when you expect one thing and another arrives it does affect the experience. Manhandling and pulling apart wings is not what I had been expecting. Secondly the burger has changed drastically. It used to be PERFECT, two small home made patties, melted cheese, pickles, lettuce and a soft brioche bun. What arrived on Saturday was so disappointing, a single patty, cheese, lettuce and lashings of an overly sweet relish. A huge disappointment and clearly reduced to save money and costs. This is something I’d expect to find in a large chain like Weatherspoons or a mobile kitchen at a festival where turn around is key. The fish pie was tasty, although the broccoli overcooked and we had no issues with the service or the cleanliness of the pub. But the menu changes are a big mistake. Please reverse these changes, you have lost two loyal customers and I am sure many other locals will feel the same.

   I had the most incredible dining experience at this restaurant! The roast pork was absolutely divine — tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, with a crispy crackling that just melted in your mouth. The roast beef was equally exceptional, cooked to perfection, with a rich, savory flavor that left me craving more. The service was impeccable; the staff was attentive, friendly, and made me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. As for the environment, it struck the perfect balance between cozy and elegant, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made the meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for outstanding food and a fantastic dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

   Delicious food quick lovely service sat in the side room which was very noisy my only bee. However recommended would definitely go back generous portions recommend booking before hand to avoid disappointment lovely find

   Cannot fault the service, restaurant was very busy. Food arrived in a timely manner. Scotch egg, delicious, Roast beef was a little tough to cut but wasn't chewy. Was not keen on the aniseed red cabbage, had to leave that. Lemon posset, OMG fantastic! Good choice of draught beers, some local. Sunday menu,besides roast was a little limited. Bar and restaurant was very busy so a little noisey but not to the level where we couldn't hear ourselves talking. Overall a lovely experience.
