The Farmhouse at Redcoats is set in a beautiful 15th century farmhouse and gardens nestled in the north Hertfordshire countryside. Sherwin Jacobs heads the kitchen and promises to deliver an experience you will not forget specialising in quality, fresh, local produce. Private dinning is available in the charismatic main house rooms. Please call us directly to book an afternoon tea, 24 hour notice is needed.

In the Farmhouse we have private dining options for parties up to 8, 12 and 16 people. Two with inglenook fireplaces perfect for family lunches, celebrations and festive gatherings. We also have meeting facilities available in some of the rooms, please give us a call to discuss. Across the courtyard we host much larger functions and weddings.

2 of us had mussels which were very small, I had a 40 day aged steak which was not very good , apart from that everything else was good.

Paper thin walls allowing us to hear the prostatic function of the guest in the floor above, a basin that didn't empty and a small TV hung from the wall like a leaf blowing in the wind. Not what we expected for £155 per night. The restaurant tries hard with the menu and the food is fine but the the bright lights, poor furniture and lack lustre service do nothing to help the lack of ambience. Also the wine is outrageous in price, 3x the price of the same bottle in Waitrose. Fine if on expenses and the hotel trade has to make a profit but we will go elsewhere next time.

Excellent meal at Redcoats farmhouse - delicious food and excellent service. Unfortunately I can’t remember the name of our waiter but he was great.

Food was superb, choice was good even with my dairy allergy which was noted then dealt with without me having to repeat it again. . Service was friendly and well timed despite the restaurant being busy with a wedding in the next room. Would highly recommend

I had the pleasure of celebrating my doctoral graduation at Farmhouse Redcoat, and it was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, with an extensive plant-based menu that I deeply appreciated. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and flavourful. The restaurant itself is modern and beautifully decorated, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that is perfect for a special occasion. What truly stood out was the exceptional service and attention to detail. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a complimentary glass of bubbles to mark my achievement, and to my delight, I was also presented with a special congratulations dessert—which they ensured was vegan just for me. This level of care meant a lot, as complimentary items are often not suitable for me despite being intended for me. The staff were friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, making the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. I would 100% return for another special occasion and highly recommend Farmhouse Redcoat to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.

Went for Sunday lunch. Our waitress was outstanding, but front of house manager and chef were poor. It’s not welcoming to tell your customers that they need to vacate the table at a certain time. A stupid thing to do at the beginning of the meal. My wife has a mushroom intolerance, which is a common thing, yet the gravy used for all the roasts had mushroom. Thus in itself is poor, but compounded by the chef not having the wit to offer an alternative. Presented with a plate of dry chicken. We had to suggest an alternative, which he then made. Very amateurish , disinterested or lazy. Maybe all 3. On arrival to the empty restaurant, we were denied a table I preferred and told we had to sit elsewhere. I noticed that the table I wanted was unoccupied for most of the lunch, and although set for 4, was given to a party of 3, the same size as my group. Lastly, an ingredient for a cocktail we ordered was unavailable. How difficult is it to maintain the stock? Overall a very disappointing visit . Can’t recommend until they pull their finger out.
