We are regular visitors to the Golden Ball but our recent visit fell below the usual standard in terms of food quality and overall service.

All 3 meals were enjoyable however the gammon had the fried egg missing and the chicken wraps had sweet chilli sauce instead of alioli as they should have. I informed the bartender that the wraps were not as expected.

There was far too much batter on my fish I left over half of it. My friend ordered the chicken roast dinner and said it was lovely but the kitchen missed off the onion stuffing. The food took ages to come and the staff were not very attentive.

Lovely evening with friends and locals. We had a great Sunday dinner with our two dogs ( and they have started the dogs Sunday dinner again) so everyone was happy 😊

Came for Sunday Lunch with my daughter today & our pet dog. We haven’t been since January this year & have read mixed reviews recently so thought we’d find out for ourselves. The staff were very friendly & the Sunday Roast was lovely & great value for money. It can sometimes be tricky to find an eating establishment that can accommodate a dog, we’ll definitely be back!

I had a roast dinner and it was 1 of the best roast dinners I have had! Everybody’s food was really good and everyone really enjoyed their meal. The service was as great and you were made to feel welcome from start to finish. We will definitely be back 😁

We are local and have been coming to the golden ball for years. I appreciate that it is recently under new management. Despite booking the bar man was rude, didn’t bother greeting us and said he didn’t have a table for us, even though the pub was less than half full. Apparently some of the other empty tables for 2 had been specially requested and he didn’t want to give us a bigger table. He looked at us like it was our problem and treated us like a total inconvenience so we left. Don’t think we will ever go back. There are plenty of other nice places nearby where you receive a friendly welcome and are treated well if that’s where you choose to spend your hard earned cash.

Had the Sunday dinner and a live singer was on, which was great, but sadly they have stopped doing the fresh Cooked “ Dogs Sunday dinner”😩
