I've had about five dinners here and it keeps getting better. Great Restaurant with great food.

We stayed at The George and dined at The Independent for my wife’s birthday. The food was exquisite. The only complaint I have is that apps/soup and salad and entree all arrived at the same time. Our server (I don’t recall her name) told us she was fairly new and was her first job in fine dining. Hey, we’re all new at some point. What a phenomenal personality she had and her energy was infectious. Made the food arriving at the same time so minimal. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

We’ve had several great meals here. Tonight was an off-night. Flank steaks were very undercooked. Service was great as usual.

Great having a nice brunch option in Georgetown. Food was good. Service was professional and nice.

We can't say enough good about this place. The service is top notch. Our server, Hunter, was so kind and courteous and very well versed in the menu. He has a keen eye to attention and detail and was a main reason this experience was as outstanding as it was. He is a true asset to the establishment. Hands down the BEST cocktails we have ever had. The bartender has to be one of the most talented mixologist we have ever come across. The negroni and the harvest moon are two absolute must have cocktails. We had the pleasure of getting to briefly meet the bartender and sing our praises to him. The food was spectacular. We had all 5 courses and nothing disappointed. We loved that they serve red drum and they knew exactly how to treat that filet with care. That was the best fish dish we've ever had. The desert was nothing short of knocking our socks off. Highly recommend the hummingbird cake. Pair that with the harvest moon cocktail and meet bliss. The service was done perfectly. The amount of time allotted between courses was perfect. We loved that about 15 minutes would pass between courses as this allowed the food to settle and even though we had all 5 courses we did not leave feeling absolutely stuffed because of how well each course is timed. We felt so well taken care of, yet we were not hovered over. The manager, Jen, has a lot to be proud of. She was such a kind soul and this night was so special to me and my husband as we were celebrating his birthday. We left feeling like the staff were our friends. As locals, we are so happy something of this nature has landed in Georgetown. We can not wait to return. We do a lot of fine dining from here to Charleston, and of ALL the places we have been the Independent has become our absolute favorite. Thank you for such a beautiful experience. We look forward to seeing you all again.

Scallops were delicious, our server was nice and friendly and good. Bartender refused to service us so we went back to our room and waited for our reservation/table instead of hanging out in the bar. Thought bartender could have at least acknowledged us in some way the hostess said we could wait there and then left us. The floater did a knowledge and said bartender would be to with us shortly but it never happened and she didn’t seem to think it was important.

We throughly enjoyed celebrating New Years Eve at The Independent in The George Hotel in Georgetown, SC. We enjoyed cocktails at Eliza’s in the courtyard overlooking the Sampit River first and loved all of the palm trees wrapped in holiday lights! Although it wasn’t an easy decision because everything on the menu sounded amazing, we finally decided on the she crab soup, grilled Caesar salads, the sea scallop entree and beef Wellington entree. We were not disappointed in our selections, the scallops were seasoned and cooked perfectly, the salad had just enough dressing, & I loved the swirl of parsley oil in the she crab soup. The presentation of every dish was picture perfect but our server was the brandied cherry on top! We were so impressed with Hunter, he answered all of my many questions, was very attentive, and exhibited all of the values I’d expect at a five star restaurant! Our second visit in 3 weeks. This time it was busy and the atmosphere was very nice. The crowd was great. Our waiter, Joe, was a pro! Memorized our orders, was knowledgeable and overall very good. The food was delicious. Much better experience then last time, except it gets a bit loud when it’s busy.
